fiberglass pool - should I worry about flooding & pool popping ou
Comments (5)Using a canter levered deck on topof the pool will also help. Use #4 rebar hooked into the edge to lock it into the decking. This with the added precautions of the build up and sump underneath should be more than enough to lock the shell in place. The use of 1/8" gravel will help ensure a washout doesn;t happen underneath the deck and under/around the shell. Tying the sump to the suction side of the pump is also a good idea. This will allow easy draining of the area under the pool in the event the pool water level needs to be lowered or emptied. Placing a fiberglass shell on concrete pillars won't help lock the pool in place. A full shell, when locked in as I have described along with the installer's chosen materials and raising the elevation will ensure it won't pop up, ever. An empty shell would also likely survive but that would depend on the water table under it, which can be lowered easily with the sump attached to the pool pump. Get a soils engineer report 1st. Comments (12)Our pool from Leisure developed cracks on the top ledge of the spa. I truly believe it was the installers fault though. Seemed like the ledge slopes downward. Anyway, Leisure sent someone to our house to buff the top layer and redo the colorant there. About 6-12 months later the cracks were back though. And although we had cracks it did not leak. We had the Icon. So our new house we installed a Latham pool. We did not add a spa this time. So no problems with this one....See MoreFiberglass pool
Comments (2)Looking at a couple websites, labor seems to run between 10-85,000 depending on location and what all is included in the installation. 10-35,000 seems to be rough average for a smaller pool for labor. Looks like pool shells run between 10-30,000 depending on what it is. Stuff like decking and surrounding patios and such are not included in pool installation, that's additional. But that's just rough guessing now. In 3-4 years that might well be much different....See MoreDo you have a fiberglass pool?
Comments (13)Have you looked at San Juan Pools? https://sanjuanpools.com/ They have some small models that are listed as spas but I've seen a couple installed as cocktail pools. https://wp.sanjuanpools.fun/category/pool-sizes/10-5/ https://wp.sanjuanpools.fun/category/pool-sizes/10-15/ Their website shows some CA dealer locations. We've heard that pools in general can hurt resale if you're not in a market where they can be used for more than a couple of months, but we have not experienced that. As for any type of pool being better or worse for resale, I'm only aware of vinyl liner pools having a negative reputation due to the cost and hassle of replacing the liner. Yes, they are cheaper to build but liners have become pretty costly and were hard to get over the past few years. When we can no longer manage this house and pool, I'd like to try San Juan's Sedona model. They show one installed partially above ground with a raised beam. Our new pool has a raised beam and we love it....See Morelsbarkley
