Yeah, mine are trying to smuggle in snakes and baby mice. I hear ya, CR! Beeswax has his eye on the hummingbirds, already. He'll watch their flight plan and one day, he'll jump up and catch one in mid-air. Rotten cat.

One spring years ago the cat bought in a dead gopher. I'd let him in that morning and didn't have my glasses on. Drank a cup of coffee, walked past the table and thought how cute the cat was under it with a toy. A toy?? hmmmm bend down close enough to see and seen stripes and 4 paws, that was NO toy! I skedaddled into DS's bedroom and made him get out of bed and dispose of it. (DS was about 8 at the time! LOL)

I usually bag them and put them in the garbage cans.( I don't have to smell them...whoever takes out the garbage gets that joyful job....)

My gifts are deer droppings around the bird feeder, torn up lawn under the finch feeder where the raccoons have dug, and on occasion, a BANG when a not-so-bright mourning doves slams into my kitchen window.

Spring is here - I saw chipmunks out and about three days ago. Temperature dropped to 32 F last night; had snow this morning and no chipmunks. The daffodils were pretty decorated with snow. Cecillia has spread everywhere and have dainty little white blossoms. We also have a wildflower in the lawn. Its something in the mint family (square blossom stem). The blossom has 6 petals and is very blue. The pollen heads on the stamens are blue also - gotta get real close to see those as the blossom is small. I haven't been able to identify this flower.

nodakgal, loved your story. It reminded me of the time my cat brought in a field mouse. It was still alive, DH was out of town and I woke my son up to get rid of the mouse. He was about 8 at the time, too. I kept reassuring him that boys are not afraid of mice, just girls.

No they don't have a fit when we take them...but they sniff around the area hunting them. Then they look at me like "what'd ya do with it?" They did bring in a live bird once.That was chaos! Me chasing the bird,the dogs chasing after me....but we managed to get it out the door.Mostly though it's things that are already dead. Emmie caught a big dove once though.It was hysterical! Little Emmie with a dove in her mouth by the tail end,the dove flapping it's wings...I thought it would fly away with her.I yelled "Drop It!" though and she did.It took off so I don't think she hurt it.And once Mic caught a lizard,saw him walking proudly around with a head out the side of his mouth and a tail out the other side.But he dropped it too when I yelled,it ran away.Best thing I taught my dogs..."Drop It!" :) No snakes or other critters so far.

Our cats don't go outside but that hasn't stopped them. A couple of years ago we put a pellet stove in the existing fireplace, it meant changing the flue around. . . that night here comes Moosie, h'mmm he has a huge mustache...... EEEEKKKKKK......BAT in the house!!!!!!!

And it is definitely spring, the bears are awake. One took down our feeders a couple of weeks ago.

My cat used to do that stuff too. One day I saw him prancing across the yard with a snake in his mouth !!!! YEEK!!! DH got rid of it. Another time he left a foot of a mole on my deck, he had eaten the rest of it I guess.

I remember when I was a kid we had 2 cats. In spring, one brought home a half dead half alive mouse. Mom screamed and ran outside to find a man to help her, to kill the mousie. A neighbor, someone, anyone, a man. She finlly flagged down a garbage truck. The driver took care of her little problem. Another time a field mouse found its' way into our garage. Our pet Beagle Lady ran out, chased it down and held it with her foot. Mom screamed and that mousie lived to tell a tale.
