Hot Water Heater Problems

Hi everyone,

I bought a new hot water heater in November of 2006. A few months ago, the pilot light kept going out! We have to re-light it several times a day, sometimes more than 10x's.

I had a repair man come out and clean it, he sad it may need a cheap part. I am fine with that, but if the problem is bigger, should I just buy a new heater?

I am irritated because I spent extra money on it when I bought it, it has a fast-recovery and holds a lot of water. I figured I was doing something good spending extra money, and thought it would last a long time.

I feel like the heater should be working in great condition since it is only 3 years old and is kept clean! It's in a basement, there is no reason it should have just started blowing out, it has not been moved, there has been no change at all.

There is a warranty, but only on parts of course.

Thanks for any advice you can offer, and thanks for listening to me whine!
