FL Heaters
Comments (26)Well I will chime in here. I have had a Sears FL (Kenmore 44052) with no internal heater for two years. I had the same feelings as you, chisue: I've lived without super-hot washes my whole life and was not willing to spend so much extra money for it. I have been very happy with my washer until just a couple months ago, when clothes started looking really dingy. We've always used the Sears detergent with Stain Fighters (recommended here). We increased the amount of detergent, which helped a lot. Then it happened again. We've switched to Tide and that has really helped. Also cleaned the machine pretty well, and tested the water temp, and a couple other things recommended on this site. Water temp is ok--with no load, hot goes to 115-120F. Water heater is right next to the washer. So I am pretty well satisfied, although sometimes I regret not getting a Danby--it had the heater, and was in my price range. But I was concerned about capacity. You can really load a LOT into the Kenmore without reducing the quality of the wash. Cycle times are not too bad--I think a hot load is about an hour and ten minutes. I hope you enjoy your new washer! Let us know....See MoreAtlanta Area - Pool Heater Needed?
Comments (18)Oil I`m sure you know that there is three kinds of heaters. Gas, heat pump, and solar.Gas will heat your pool faster and hotter, but very expensive, heat pump is more economical and probaly your best choice south of the proverbial MasonDixon line. With a HP you must have a pool cover,HPs are great but they take a day or two to get your pool temp up and if not covered the heat will escape at night.Using the thermostat and a cover your pool season will be extended spring thu early fall. Solar systems are also great.Initial cost is all you will occur, nature pays for the rest.SS can be used to supplement gas or heat pump.SSs are also good if you have too much shade on your pool.(you mentioned trees?) Another minus on gas is if you don`t have a gas line to your house, you need a hugh unsightly tank. Some who do have a city line have to go to a larger line (ca Che-ca che). Good Luck it seems you are going to have beautiful, well thought out pool....JR PS.. Like an early post said you can easily add a HP later. I did mine myself a year later and saved dough. The major thing is getting an electrical circuit (50w)to your equipment....See MoreWhich Propane heater to buy?
Comments (7)Thats crap. If you maintain your water chemistry properly you can run water thru either one 24/7/365 for 10 years with no problems. If your chems. are that far off the cupro-nickel will buy you maybe another 90 days. I dont think that is worth the loss in efficency or the extra 100 bucks. If you maintain the chemistry properly you will have to replace the heater BEFORE the heat exchanger fails. But please make yourself, poolguynj, and Raypak happy and buy the C-N....See Moresolar pool heater
Comments (9)These have been discussed here before. The concern most people have is that while it sounds good in theory, in actuality the time you need the heat the most (spring and fall) your attic probably doesn't have enough heat in it to make much of a difference in your pool temps. I was interested in this system for our pool, but I was not able to find any first-hand reports other than someone who claimed to have had one and that it worked great, but they had since moved and could therefore not post pics or give any detailed info (rather suspicious considering how new the product is)....See MoreJannellee
