Pool Resurfacing

Hello,

We just bought a home which has a pool that needs resurfacing. The pool is 16 x 28. We have never had a pool and read the pool should be coated with something called diamond brite with quartz in it rather than marble?

Also, I notice some pools have a light green color rather than blue when filled which I like, is the pool resurfaced with white? We had one estimate and the guy said to use light blue, but I really prefer the light green color to the filled pool.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are in Central Florida.

Get some samples from PB and look at some of his pools. We ended up with exactly what we saw.

Pool resurfacing plaster thickness

1/2" to 3/4" is the norm. Some areas may be 1". Plaster is not a structural material like concrete. Anything beyond 1" you may have issues cracking. Having 1" thickness for "touch up" is a new one to me.

Pool resurface and retiling

We used Super Blue years ago on a project. It's a white base with a lot of blue speckles, but the it's predominantly white. It does cast a light blue color. It;s a nice plaster. I would choose the first tile. The coloring contrasts the plaster, but picks up the colors in the Bluestone patio best. To me, the second one has too many variations of blue.

In central FLorida you might want to check out the product line from premixmarbletite.com located in Winter Springs, FL.

I have nothing to do with the company, but they seem to have a large portion of the Florida market share. Several of the better builders (based on word of mouth) in my area (Space Coast) use their product, and I'm pretty sure brentr in Jacksonville did as well.

Unfortunately my pool is just a shotcrete shell at the moment so I can't offer a personal endorsement - good or bad.

lbridges, we went with premixmarbletite. It is Antigua, Beach Series.
