Did you have any of the supply lines changed during the remodel or only the faucets?

I have this same problem. We did a major addition with a main kithchen sink and a prep sink. We didn't get the prep sink hooked up for about a year. When we did the water tasted chemically--we really noticed it in coffee. We ran the water but didn't drink it for a long time. It seems to generally taste okay now, but recently we used the water in a butter bell, and the butter tasted terribly metallic. I am wondering what it could be. I originally guessed that it might be from flux in the pipe. But I would think that that would be gone by now. The fixture is a Hans Grohe kitchen sink pull-out spot type.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this. All other faucets in house taste fine.

Also, unscrew the aerator from the end of the faucet and clean out any grit that's in there. Reinstall and do a taste test.

we had our kit remodeled the contractor used flux to hook up kit faucet its been over three months. It still taste like oil and you can smell it. Does he have to repipe?

Our HOA pool clubhouse had to be re-piped because of a frozen pipe burst. When we started to use the clubhouse again I took a drink from the water fountain. Tasted terrible. Took a while to put it together, but I concluded it was solvent cement from the PVC piping. Had to let it run for quite a while to rinse the taste out, but, after a while it was OK. May not have been your problem, but may help someone else.

We also changed our taps. Lovely Tivoli as well as replaced copper feeder pipes with multi layered plastic plumbing pipes.

However water from the bathroom basin with the new taps (faucets) tastes metallic or weird BUT NOT WATER FROM OTHER EXISTING TAPS supplied by the same water pipes. Conclusion. It has to be the taps. And they've been running for 2 months use.

My faucet still has that metal, rubbery foul taste, even after 2 months. I asked my neighbor if he knew what the problem is. He told me the maintenance man may have used the wrong rubber things (washers, gaskets, etc) when he installed it. He said you can't use the ones meant for autos even though they look alike. I even taste it in the ice cubes from the fridge and he replaced parts in there too. I cannot even use the water to cook with. It is absolutely gross!

Same problem. 20 yrs ago, we installed Price Phister faucet in one bath. Water immediately tasted bad, it has never gotten better, and its been 20 years! I had no idea.. WE recently purchased an inexpensive Price Phister Faucet for the kitchen, as quickie before a remodel. The water now tastes bad from it... metallic, or odd.. very nasty. Bottom line, it's the Price Phister faucets, and I will NEVER purchase one again! But, I do not know how to fix it, in the meantime.

I installed two new Glacier Bay faucets (kitchen, bathroom sink) 4 months ago...still tastes metallic. I've had to go to bottled water for cooking and drinking. B.S.!! Going back to home depot and ask them...sounds like their problem since they sell them. I'm not going to try to fix brand new faucets. My old, leaking, cheap chrome faucets didnt taint the water.. Boise has great city water. Thanks for everybody's stories...thought I was the only one.

I’m in Cape Town South Africa. Changed my taps (faucets) and piping. Also found metallic taste suppliers refused saying it could be the metallic flexible hoses under the faucet or the connectors anywhere along the pipes or (even if putty was used)

so who knows!!!

Update. My Price Phister faucets, finally do not taste so awful. It's been around 2 years to get to this point. I did get new faucets in the baths, and now, the water tastes bad again from them. Maybe its in the parts that are coming with the faucets, afteral, all the stuff is made in China, and they are pretty much all about money and cheaping it out. I know, I lived there.

China is the source of a lot of cheap stuff, but also can produce quality stuff totally on a par with or better than some quality “made in USA“ products. But even faucets that are high quality can contain lead in the brass castings which you wouldn’t be able to taste. And high quality faucets, regardless of where they come from, may need to use rubber, nylon, or plastic for seals. So it’s complicated.

In all seriousness, maybe you are one of those people who are “super tasters” and are more sensitive to things like this than the average person. If your water tastes funny after plumbing work, your new faucet may be responsible. New plastic piping or faucets may impart a taste or smell to the water that runs through them. Taste and smell are so interconnected that smelling something may create a taste for you.

Different types of plastic are more likely to create a plastic-like smell in your water. Research has found that HDPE, PEX-a and PEX-b are most likely to impart a plastic taste while cPVC is least likely to do so.

My new bathroom sink water starts out super fizzy and tastes plastic or chemical like. It gets better when I run it. I’m going to check my aerator but am not optimistic.

I had this problem. The new faucet was manufactured in China (Oakbrook). The water tasted metallic. This was a sudden new problem and was in no other faucet in the house. I had used stainless steel connector hoses so that wasn't the problem. I rinsed out the aerator and soaked it in vinegar (I read this suggestion in a post above). That worked for one day. The vinegar discolored the metal mesh in the aerator and I could smell it and see rusty grit. I then bought a Danco replacement aerator. My water tastes fresh again. Problem solved!

I also installed a Price Pfister and the water tastes like a cheap Chinese factory flavor. Going to try vinegar on the aerator.
