I think most posts were from folks saying they either liked it or they didn’t, not that it was an unusual choice or that they had never heard of it. My take away from this thread is that rum and raisin ice cream has been around for years but it is not a favourite of many. Our ice cream place is now featuring haskap berry and keso/queso. eta not combined, but I suppose one could have a scoop of each 🍨

Hello Mike, That is an impressive plant. If it were a truly unique mutant, then in my opinion you would be justified in bringing it indoors, possibly with some credible indoor lighting, for an indefinite extension of its lifetime. But you can probably grow it again from commercial seeds. However, as an amateur zinnia breeder, I have had some zinnia flower forms that were uniquely different from what is available commercially, like this one for example. You can click the photo to see a larger version. So, on a few occasions, I have brought an outdoor zinnia indoors for continued growth under fluorescent lighting, along with zinnias that I was already growing indoors, but almost every time I came to regret it. The last time I did that, I inadvertently brought in some thrips from outdoors on the zinnia plant. The thrips had natural enemies that kept them under control outdoors, but indoors without enemies, they had a population explosion that nearly wiped out my indoor project. On another similar occasion, it was spider mites, and on a previous occasion, it was aphids. I won the battle with the aphids and the thrips, but lost it dramatically with the spider mites. So now the only thing I bring in from my zinnia garden is saved seeds. I would caution against possible similar problems with any plant you bring indoors from outdoors. I am not saying not to do it under any circumstance, but if you do, be prepared for a possible fight. ZM

I accidentally discovered him when I began reading about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquataine, another great love story with a tragic ending. They fell in love when Eleanor was married to the French king & had kids with him. She left the King of France then married Henry. Huge love story. William was one of the knights escorting Eleanor somewhere in France, and they were ambushed by the French who were after Eleanor. It was William who got in front of her and fought, while she took off. He suffered a bad leg wound, and they took him hostage. Eleanor didn't even know him but she was the one who paid his ransom, then hired him to teach the future Henry the Young, Richard I, and King John about jousts, using a sword, and being a good soldier. Henry II hired him & when he died, Young Henry hired him, then Richard hired him, John hired him, and John's son, Henry III hired him. He was loyal to a fault and although King John was a horrible horrible man, except to his children, William kept his word of loyalty and stayed. Richard chose Isabel de Clare for William to marry. William had no money but Isabel....you gotta look it up, I could talk all day long. Romance galore but not the trashy kind, great history that's well documented William was invested into the Knights Templar on his deathbed and he's buried with an effigy In Temple Church, London.

I can't think of any diseases on my plants, and the only pests I can think of are a few thrips on maybe three roses in spring, but not every spring. Basically it's a pest free zone around unless you're also including deer and voles. I use no "products" on my plants except compost and organic fertilizers. I am speaking of all my plants not just roses. Diane
