Is hot water needed for dishwasher, or does it heat cold water?
Comments (31)you’re either referring to the law (in Washington State, anyway) regarding rental properties, or you live in some place that has uber nanny legislators. And seriously? YOU don’t think YOU are smart enough to know what temperature YOU want YOUR hot water in your home? Any who, I don’t want the dishwasher to turn the electrical heating element on. Electricity (unless your using magnetic induction) is an inefficient way to heat water. It is better for my house to use hot water from my tankless HWH. I have a tankless HWH that will produce 190° hot water if I set it correctly. I have a dedicated line from the manifold that natal led between the heater and the Case Acme temperature regulator. I send 160° water to my dishwasher, and washing machine. (I also have a dedicated line that supplies 160° to a separate faucet on my sink that takes the place of the under sink contraption that crapped out a while back. (120° is the legal limit? Don’t tell InSinkerator. I doubt those gadgets they make can even go down to 120°.) I would use 180° water but I am afraid the water temperature alone might melt some plastic ware and also damage some synthetic fabrics. Here’s a thought, when it comes to how YOU choose to live in YOUR house, man up, and grow a pair....See Morehot & cold water supply
Comments (1)thats a silly question. buet here is the answer, the water is cold comming into your house. it goes directly to your cold water side of the faucets. The hot water goes through your water heater gets heated then goes to the hot supply side of your faucets. If I was you I would install a nice whole house filter right after your well tank. get a clear one so you can see anything and everything that it picks up, and you know when to change it....See Morehot water from cold faucet sometimes
Comments (1)Are you getting cold water or hot water to your outdoor sprinklers? Do you have a mixing valve at the hotwater heater? If so, try turning it off temporarily to find if it has any affect on the problem....See MoreSingle handle faucet: "Cold water is overriding the hot water"????
Comments (21)OK, different story after I actually met with the maintenance guy and performed some tests. Here are the facts: 1. Single-level handle for tub/shower with pressure-balanced valve. 2. Tenant does not experience water temperature fluctuations, but supposedly tenants in unit below complain. 3. No water heater in unit, but circulating hot water in building (big boiler). 4. It takes a long time before water actually turns hot when the hot is turned on, both on bathroom sink and tub/shower. Not sure if that's related. 5. So here are the tests: a. Turn hot water on at tub/shower until it's piping hot; turn off; turn HOT on again --- water comes out very cold. b. More interestingly: Turn tab/shower faucet on hot; turn off; then Turn hot water on bathroom SINK faucet --- this is a two handle faucet, so only use hot water handle; water comes out hot, then slowly turns cold; then hot again. c. Now shut off tub/shower valves, so no water gets into the faucet. Do the same thing with the sink faucet as before, i.. e turn on hot; now water will not turn colder but stay hot. So, my question is now: Did the previous plumber incorrectly install the faucet after he took it apart when he fixed a leak, or is the pressure-balancing valve in the tub/shower faucet busted? Either way, I just called a plumber....See Morelazypup
