Show me your floor tile

Please help! I have to replace the tile on my kitchen floor BEFORE I renovate my kitchen. The floor needs to be done right away as it was damaged when a water heater leaked, and the insurance is paying to re-do the floor. I am in the process of finding a KD and planning a renovation, but that process will take months and I have to get the floor done now.

Can anyone please share with me pix of their kitchen tile floor? I need something very neutral that will be easy to work around, in terms of what I select for the kitchen later. I want my cabinets to be a natural to honey color, probubly maple. That's about all I know, and even that isn't "for sure". I look at tile in the stores and I am overwhelmed. Not only that, but a tile or two on display doesn't really tell much about what it'll look like laid w/grout. I have to pick something out soon and I have absolutely no idea.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am having a major anxiety attack over this thing...

I have posted this pic a few times. We have travertine "premium noce" from Lowe's. 18x18" It is very neutral, does not show dirt or my dog's hair!! HTH

Here's mine. i don't have a close up pic of the tile itself-but it's mixed sized porcelain (16" & 6" tiles) in a hopscotch pattern. Although the tile's porcelain, it looks like tumbled marble straight on and is really pretty. Got it at lowes, called Rialto in beige. And we used some bronze decos in place of some of the 6" tiles. It also is soooo easy to keep clean!

I missed this question so hopefully I'm not too late. They're all 1/8" thick grout line. The tile on the floor is just a tiny bit off of the color of the tile on the walls (because the granite place went out of business and I had to find different tile) so the floor shows the grout lines a little bit more than the wall tile does (it's a perfect blend there). The spacers were the same though on both :) My counters in that bath are crema marfil...I just love the stuff :) In person you can't tell that the two tiles are from differnt quaries, but when I take pictures I can see one is just a tiny bit lighter than the other (the flash accentuates it) which is what makes the grout stand out that tiny bit.

Motherof3 I am a mother of 3 too and have also used variations of that for user names, etc.! So we think alike, especially considering that you like the natural stone! There is no question that marble is higher maintenance than ceramic or other materials. I have been living with the new bathrooms for six months and this is what I can tell you. First, we are most definitely not people who are going to squeegee the shower every time we use it. But since I want the shower to remain nice, this is what I do. First, the bar soap is outlawed because you can't use cleaners that will remove the soap scum and in my view, the specially formulated cleaners (like 409 for stone) are pretty useless. Second, we put in a handshower and we do spray down the shower with it after each use. That is easy because we continue to run the rainhead and the body sprays while we run the handshower so we don't stand in there naked and freezing which would discourage compliance! The handshower is key!! Third, we have no door, so that reduces mildew issues. We do use a mild bleach solution every week, which takes care of mildew and cleans the grout. Where a bit of soapy film (DH cheats a bit on the soap rule I think) builds up around the bottom course of tile, I use a tiny bit of soft scrub very sparingly in place of the useless stone cleaners. Finally, during the past week, I have noticed a bit of rust around the drain, where the water sits a bit before the shower dries out. I used a bit of BKF on it and now, after I shower, I dry off the floor around the drain by just throwing the bath mat into the shower and leaving it there until the next shower. I am willing to do that much. With those caveats, I have to say that I am loving the bathrooms. There is nothing quite like marble. It is so soothingly spa-like. I smile every time I go in there! My house is a 1927 tudor revival. We are restoring the original gumwood cabinets that include two large zinc paned glass cupboards. I love the classic white/black kitchen, but my house and kitchen cabinets said "no! I am a tudor revival with vaguely arts & craft leanings, and you will respect that!" And so, I must. This is not a "preservation quality house" but it does have a personality, and if I choose something out of character for the genre or period it's just not going to look right. So, rather than the pretty sort of provence stone floor I thought I would do, I am now leaning toward a more turn-of-the-century A&C kind of thing made up of small square quarries --like, 4x4 and/or 3x3 in three shades of beige, mocha and brown, with may-be a few celtic art tiles thrown in. I admit I got the idea from a beautiful restored tudor (same architect did both that one and mine) that I was a host in at a landmark tour last week. And, this new idea is consistent with tiles in our sun room. But I'm nervous -- I see mostly wood floors, lots of stone, but clearly, this is not the heyday of my kind of house or kitchen. I've got a few pics -- bungalow kitchen, that kind of thing, but I need to see more! If you have any images or have this kind of vibe going in your house, would love to see.

I have a 12x12 through body porcelain tile from Crossville that's designed to look like natural stone (limestone I think)

It looks good and is incredibly strong (In fact, this weekend I was cutting some of the tile leftover from the kitchen for an adjacent powder room using a score and snap cutter. I scored the tile heavily, pressed down on the handle, and snap, the tile cutter broke, the tile was undamaged)

Hi we used Congoleum Duraceramic, I love it, very durable (so far) with all the renovations going on around it. It was a complete DIY, and we bought the materials over the internet and saved a lot of $.

The one on the right is before grouting, but the tiles can also be placed next to each other and eliminate grouting entirely. The one on the left is after grouting,
Looks great with our cabs and all and doesn't show much dirt or dog hair :)

Mine is neutral, Dal ceramic tile. It's mottled look hides any dirt. Home Depot .79 cents a sq foot.

In this photo the kitchen still was not finished. The floor is porcelain. It does not show the dirt. They are 20 x 20 on the diagonal.

vallelunga Livinston 13"x13" porcelain in Leather. lots of colors/shading -- even a little black; you can't see anything that falls on it!

Hello,

here's mine. It is 20 x 20, porcelain. It is designed to look like stone. It has a lot of variation and texture to it. I also used a smaller 13 x 13 size of the same tile for my backsplash.

I like your tiles, what's the name of the tile ? and how big is your kitchen and dinning area ? I'm also thinking of using 20x20 or 13x13 for my kitchen which is about 8'x8' and dining area is 16'x10'. I'm confused on which will looks good and easy to maintain. btw I'm also going with the stone look with lot of variation.

Pls let me know your thoughts.

Here is mine.
This is actually the mudroom but the kitchen is the same. I just had a better pic of floor in mudroom.

It Is Philadelphia Series Light , it a antiqued, tumbled travertine.
The individual sizes are 18 x 24, 16 x 18, 8 x 16, 8 x 8
It is the versailles pattern.
