My cats did it when they were hungry, so I just made sure their bowl had enough to tide them thru an early a.m. snack without waking me up :-)

My cats want to purr in my ear when they think I should get up. I push them off the bed and go back to sleep! LOL! Now all I have to really do is roll over and say SHHHHH! And they get the picture.

When they were young, and they wanted to be in my face, on my face, on my pillow, etc. ... I would pick them up and toss them to the end of the bed, and go back to sleep. I'm lucky that I can go back to sleep so easily.

I store my cat food in a plastic cat food container I got at PetSmart ot PetCo .. since my one cat loves to shred cat food bags. The barn cats food is n a tin, but I go thru that pretty quickly.

I guess it depends on how much you want to store, for how long?

Our first can could not be stopped from waking us up at 5 a.m. or even earlier. We just had to take the sweet little thing and put her out of the bedroom and shut the door. We lost her a couple years ago. Our new kitty never disturbs us in the mornings. She's very polite.

I store the dry food in a plastic container with a tight lid. I guess it's not getting stale because kitty still eats it, and it smells ok too. You could probably keep it in the bag if you had one of those wide clamp things to keep it shut tight. I never buy giant bags of dry food because I think it gets stale in time.

I tried rolling over and Dustin just jumped on my back, lol. I might have to put a couple kitty beds in the kitchen and kick him out for a bit until he gets the picture.

The tin idea was just something I saw being convenient and the bag is annoying. I usually go through a medium bag a month but without a car and the snow here I grabbed a larger bag. I think I'll look for a plastic container as I think it would hold the flavour in better.

When my first cat(s) started waking me earlier and earlier to be fed, that was the end of the morning feeding time and the beginning of afternoon/evening dinner time!

My cat Shizu goes through periods when she'll wake me up in the morning, but for attention, not food!

We keep their dry food in a large plastic container we'd gotten at Petco years ago.

Yup! Dustin is my 3-4 year old boy and Muffin is my 6 month old kitten. Oddly enough Muffin doesn't sleep on the bed with me and Dustin. I spent a week or so with my mom while she recuperated from surgery and since I go over days to help out so I haven't begun to taper off their food to timed meals. For Xmas I'll be spending the night with mom as well and New Year's so I wanted to wait until this was all over then cut back on how long the food is out and encourage them not to eat all day long. Muffin was only fed once a day so she'll be easy to train back to 2 times a day but Dustin's used to having food out all the time.

Dustin is usually most affectionate when he's just woken up from a long nap. So he's not asking for food but love which is why I'm reluctant to punish him for wanting love but at 5 am I want sleep, lol.
