Pictures of hats worn to THE wedding.

I wouldn't get caught dead in most of them. I find most of them just ugly. more suitable to an Easter egg basket or Easter wreath decoration! I would truly on try on the Queen and Princess of Spain's hats, and the Queen mother's.

What's with the hats that are perched on the forehead? Or over the ear? Those aren't hats.

I wish I had a hat like one of those for my Kentuky Derby party next week. Wonder if I'll be able to find these at a thrift store. Most of those I wouldn't wear except for a party that we are trying to have the most silly hat!

This was some years ago....a guy my husband knew from work brought over his photo album one day to show us pictures of his home town in Germany. I spot a boy wearing the brightest yellow pants and I point to it laughing. Whether it be boys or men in this country they just don't wear colors like that. Afterwards my husband tells me this guy wears a pair just like them to work. He hadn't been in this country long enough yet to notice noone dresses like that (off the golf course that is). I keep forgetting we are less daring then thay are and what shocks us doesn't shock them. The sight of these crazy hats was a first for me but I haven't traveled outside the US in decades nor do I follow fashion so what do you expect. Are they wearing stuff like this to Ascot too? What about the Kentucky Derby? I don't recall seeing outlandish hats when I've watched the Derby on TV. Do you think this means women will start wearing that silliness here now that they've seen the Brits going for it?

I don't believe them. I think they're playing with words when they say they won't have servants...does that also include the weekly housekeeper who comes in and cleans the entire house in one day? How about laundry service, gardeners, calling for a limo, etc. You can have a lot of work done for you without live-in help. Who's dusting and mowing the lawn while they're galavanting all over the world? Scullery maids or Merry Maids? When kids come you think she's not going to have a nanny? HA! Wait and see.

My youngest niece's wedding was a riot. The groom does not dance, so he decided there would be no dancing at the wedding. They did have a three piece jazz group. Of course everyone thought you were supposed to dance so watching people try to gyrate to the jazz was hysterical. They both love fly-fishing and had a fishing theme -- ahem. The wedding cake had a fish on top that looked like it was dead -- seriously, a dead trout lying on top of the cake. There was a groom's cake and I never did decide what that shape was. The centerpieces were bowls of goldfish. Cute -- but what do you do with 100 goldfish after the wedding? In the end, a good time was had by all but there was a lot of eye-rolling and tongue biting. Yes -- kudos for you for pulling this one off. It will make a good family story for years. I wish the couple much happiness and a home of their own!

OH, I used to LOVE hats! DH came across an old movie on TV last night, "The Man Who Came to Dinner". Up pops Ann Sheridan in a hat -- with a veil that TIED UNDER THE CHIN. I remember my mother and her friends wearing cocktail hats with veils! One of her hats that I loved was ocelot fur -- it was shaped a bit like the GI overseas caps. I picture her wearing that hat, with its matching square muff, and a suit jacket that had a peplum. (Hah! Bet I've completely lost some of you by now! LOL) My DH's former employer frowned on anything but a *white* dress shirt when he was first employed. Previously, employees had to wear dress hats (summer and winter), as well as suits with white shirts and ties -- even if they were not in contact with the public. No man wore anything but a long-sleeved white shirt and a sober tie. Anybody interested in a dresser drawer full of ladies GLOVES and HANDKERCHIEFS? Oooh, how about an alligator purse?

What holds Beckham's hat on her forehead?? It makes me want to hold my head back to keep it from falling off! Same as Beatrice's ? corkscrew hat.

OMGosh! I saw her shoes. it looked like she was standing on her toes they were so high. I can't believe anyone could walk in those!

The daughter of Prince Andrew who wore that beige hat that stuck up so high was having problems in the car to and from Westminster. She could not sit up in the car and wear the hat, so she had to point the top of her head toward the front windshield. That put her in an awkward, crouched position as they drove along, so she tried to make it look like she was leaning over so she could wave to the crowds, which she did the entire route so that she would not look so odd. The perfect caption for a photograph of her wearing that hat would be, "Can you hear me now?"

I think both of Prince Andrews daughters looked terrible. The one in the beige hat had too much eye makeup on and the other one in the blue dress looked heavy.

I thought the hats were fascinating. The angle they had some of them at was really something - especially the ones down on the front of the forehead. Are hats popular with all Brits or is that just a royal wedding thing?

I believe the Queen invited all ladies to dress up and wear a hat to the wedding. This included among the public that await outdoor.

We've been doing our best to escape the onslaught of royal wedding coverage this morning, but there is one image that is haunting our dreams. Because once you see it, you can't unsee it.

That's what my DD said about her hat when she saw it yesterday. ThEN I saw this today. LOL
