Hi... I'm new here

Hi everyone! After lurking here for what seems like forever, I decided this just might be the place to be!

My name is Tammy and I'm from NE MS. I've been married for almost 26 years and we have one 23 year old DS, who is about to be deployed to Iraq. I am proudly owned by 6 cats and 4 dogs. Looking forward to talking to yall!

Actually, in a nice, porous, fast draining medium the root system of our containerized annuals will happy fill the whole pot. When that happens, you can be darned sure that you have some happy and thriving plants! Lori, don't be intimidated by all of what you read in here. Success can be achieved in a variety of ways. I do think that your annuals can probably make it in that 'stuff'. It will be difficult to water, however, because it won't drain rapidly at all. The soil in the bottom portion of the containers will slow everything down. You 'may' find that the roots won't want to enter the top soil, as well. If so, then watch for wilting. You may end up watering more frequently than you intended. Fertiloam potting soil is a standard peat based planting mix that should be perfectly acceptable. It's not sedge peat based, like Hyponex, which turns to sludge. Next year, you can cut the potting mix with up to 50% perlite and have a simple, inexpensive, easy potting medium. Your plants will thank you for it. (Also, avoid anything labeled garden 'soil', compost, manure for containers. Though great for gardens, those ingredients clog up the pore spaces required for healthy containerized plants.)

Hi there. That would be hydrangea paniculata. Here is a link that might be helpful. FYI - you can usually buy these already pruned to tree form which saves lots of effort. Welcome Purplemoon, how wonderful to have another enthusist here! Your stacking plates are cute! If you want it "fuller" maybe you could add a few round sparkly Xmas ornis to it, and add some larger red roses, those slightly bigger things help add height and weight to the design. Your DIL did wonderful on her plates too, it is so cool that you two could do this together! I'm sure the dish manufactors in certain areas are wondering why the rush on the cake plates, they're probably thinking everyone is doing some "cookin" LOLOLO The easter plates should be pretty easy to do for everyone, since so much is available out there compaired to V-Day.

Vique- the brownies were delicious. More please.

samkaren- I wouldn't think of joining without bringing the cheesecake!
alisande- if I weren't so challenged in posting pics, I would love to post pics of my "children". But I haven't got a clue! Maybe I will learn eventually. I enjoy seeing everyone else's pets.
marlingardener- I have 2 blue point Siamese(Rudy & Eli), one orange & white tabby(Thomas), one black & white(Cookie), 2 gray tabbies(Gracie & Bob). My dogs include: Tazz, a German Shepherd mix, Maggie, a white retriever mix, Conner, a tan retriever mix, and Trooper, a white pit bull mix. Each cat has it's own very distinct personality and sometimes their "opinions" differ. The dogs get along pretty well.

I've been married to the love of my life for 26 years in May. DS will be leaving soon and I am really broken up about it, but I will continue to pray for strength.

Sorry for being so long.

I'll squeeze over so you can sit and tell us more about your pets! I have 3 cats, and they have their own unique personalities, and we love them to pieces.

There's always a pot of coffee brewing and if you brought muffins to go with it, that's fantastic.

I love all animals but don't have any pets right now as I lost my kitty in December. Welcome, Tammy, from your Northeast Mississippi neighbor. I love living in this area. Right now the flowers are gorgeous and today it seemed like summer. I have only one cat at this time, a very spoiled shelter kitty. Chicken from KFC is her favorite thing right now.

Hope things go well with your son. That's such a hard thing. I know you'll enjoy the nice folks on this forum.

How about that talented Texas Posie cat...waving with her hind leg no less. LOL

You may want to email some of your pet pics to one of us here who can post them for you, or give you clear instructions about how it's done. Sorry, but it's kinda hard for me also...I struggle with this old, slow computer of mine.

Welcome, Tammy! I will add my prayers to yours for your DS's safe return. I will soon be married 27 years, with 2 kids, DD 25, who posts here occasionally as Perfectpets, and DS who will be 22 in July. We have 2 house rabbits, and DD has 3 houserabbits and 1 cat. We love to travel and camp in our 30' motor home, and have met several KT'ers.

Hi Tammy! I've never had a friend from Mississippi, so I'm glad to "meet" you. I'm from Minnesota, happily married 28 years with two boys and one girl all in their twenties. No pets but my oldest son has two dogs and my daughter lives on a farm has a few cats in her barn, one just gave birth to five kittens yesterday.

I will say a prayer for your son. What's his name?
