new kitty not getting along with older kitties -- s.o.s.!

I have adopted a male kitten, now about 12 weeks old. My two older cats, (male and female, 6 1/2-years old) are very mild, non-aggressive. When the older cats were kittens, they were very sweet and playful and I was HOPING new kitty would be the same. Well, new kitty is wild and chases and pounces on the older kitties, giving them no peace. Is it hopeless?? I know the new kitty needs to play, but I won't keep him if it means my older kitties can no longer enjoy their life! They've been "mingling" for about 3 weeks now. They don't fight -- because the older ones aren't into fighting. The baby is not yet neutered -- the vet wants to do it when he's about 4-5 months old. Will this help him settle down? If I"m going to give away the baby kitty, I need to do it when he's still little and cute -- I know it's harder to find a home for a grown cat. If he were my only cat, I'd keep him. But I'm not sure he's fitting into the family. Any advice is appreciated!
