Real good belly laugh

Sis, Terrie & Bro-in-law, Dave, came to visit for the day, on Saturday and what a nice visit we had. They come up from MPLS a little over 100 miles one way. Dave was telling us about a friend of his who has a hobby farm but seems to be raising animals instead of garden crops. He was naming the animals, like a sheep a couple goats, some chickens and geese. Then he started telling about the two horses the guy had and said they were old horses so they weren't riding horses, but looking horses. ( you didn't ride them, just look at them) I don't know why Sis & I found this so funny, but we started laughing and tears were running down our faces and I almost peed my pants. The rest of the day she & I would look at each other and would say "looking horses" and start laughing all over again. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. It really felt good. This is probably one of those, 'you had to be there' stories, but I thought I would share it with you-all. When was the last time you had a good belly laugh? Dottie

I would have found that funny also. It's good to laugh like that when you're with friends/family isn't it?

How funny, "looking horses" I think I know exactly what he meant lol.

Last night, we brought my youngest DGS home with us and it's about an hour drive. Once I looked back to check on him and he was leaning over the arm of his booster seat staring up at the roof of the jeep, oh my goodness he looked so bored lol. He got as good a laugh out of it as I did hehe.

We both will bust out laughing at things we find funny. Especially the antics of animals. Back when we had several Great Danes we were laughing a lot. Our little dog now will also perform some act to get us going. Quite often at tv shows too. I don't even remember what the conversation was or what we were watching but I made the comment quel grimace! Because someone was making a face.(imagine a baby tasting a lemon for the first time) My husband looked at me for a second and said did you just say Pale Green Moss?? To this day if he looks at me and says Pale green moss I just bust out laughing. The original time it happened I literally was on the floor laughing with tears. I will occasionally start saying things in Cajun French like that and he does not know the language so he just looks at me waiting for the English version LOL. By now though he has learned a few of my choice phrases including quel grimace!

Lesley, thank you so much. Patience is important, and definitely something I struggle with. It's hard to plant something and know it's going to be a few years before it really wows you! I planted two Henri Martins this last summer and a Salet Moss and I'm dying for them to bloom. They are the first "old" roses I've planted and I am just antsy to see them. I was impressed with how much they grew in their first year though from little bands. I have removed New Dawn from my wishlist on ARE! Thank you for letting me know. I definitely don't want a monster of a rose covered in thorns. -------- iris_gal, thank you very much! Yikes... Sounds like a lot of people have had trouble with New Dawn. HMF is bookmarked on my computer. :o) I'm on there way more than I should probably admit! I saw Mme. Plantier gets about 5 feet wide. I don't know that I mind the pruning too much since its vigorous, hardy to zone 3, and near thornless. I dunno? I'm conflicted. -------- Trish, it's good to know I'm not alone! I do feel like I've learned a ton but there is SO much to learn. It always amazes me the stuff everyone knows here. Well I bet in the right place it might not be such a terrible idea! If you had it somewhere where it could get as big as it wanted and you didn't have to pass by it too closely. I don't think a place like that in my yard exists. Hopefully Jeri will come back and tell us what that beautiful rose is. :o) Michaela

Jennifer, I think your stairs/elevator dream is pretty common. Dreams about stairs can be connected to progress and moving forward in some area of our waking life. No stairs or elevator might indicate a fear of not succeeding. LOL, deco, sometimes it really is just because you have to wake up and go. My recurring dream is either toilets with no privacy (like Jennifer's pic), or I can't find a working toilet since they're all clogged or overflowing. Who knows...maybe it has to do with facing something uncomfortable in our waking life, and apprehension about anyone seeing our vulnerability. My sister's a therapist and can make some sense out of the strangest dreams. Mine can be pretty strange. The other night I dreamed I could set my purse on the ground, sit on it, then drive it. :-/ Sometimes it's just plain obvious why we have certain dreams, and other times there really can be a message there.

Funny, but wish I had at least a "Looking Horse". It is good to have a good laugh every once in awhile.

Almost every Sunday at lunch I have to laugh at the stories some of my friends tell and they get a good laugh from the stories I tell.

Love it--"looking horses"! Here in Texas we have "front yard cows" that are particularly well-bred, sometimes Longhorns, and are literally out in front of the house so passers-by can admire the rancher's best cows. I guess you could call them "good-looker cows."

I love those experiences! A few weeks ago I sat next to an good friend at a poetry reading--an event about as quiet as church. Something too long to explain here set us off, and she and I spent the next five or ten long minutes hunched over in our chairs, hands to our faces, shoulders shaking, trying to keep the laughter in. The poet must have thought we were profoundly moved by his reading.

Hahahahahaha!
My sister has "looking horses." When she got married 15 yrs. ago, husband bought her "Witch" to add to his "Lad." Neither horse has been ridden since (our brother has a REAL problem with that.) Sis is still cleaning the stalls EVERY DAY. . . .
