Well, this is getting hot! Oakley - if this is the best way for you to enjoy and learn about fine art, then do it! I am all for learning to love art as an avocation, in whatever way suits the person best. In our house there are some very nice oil and watercolor originals on the walls, as well as prints, posters, lithos, and gasp, some framed postcards and a calendar picture. In our bedroom I just hung a 2010 calendar with twelve of Vermeer's loveliest paintings. I may frame a couple of those after our MBR redo. I agree that visiting a museum is the best way to look at great pictures. However, with my horrible back pain, I couldn't make it through more than one or two rooms without a Tylenol-3 or two, which would turn me into a slug-brain. And the nearest decent gallery/museum is almost 400 miles away, in L.A. Here's an additional suggestion, Oakley. There is the most wonderful BBC series, called "The Private Life of a Masterpiece", available on Netflix. It's about $75 on Amazon. It's by far the best thing I've ever seen on film on this subject. Each DVD studies three or four great works of art, describes its location, history, style, the artist's life, and has a tremendous musical score as well. When I watched the first one, I called DH in to have a look; he said "No, don't think so", but eventually he wandered in, sat down, and loved it. We plan to buy the series. DH is a History Channel - WW2 kind of guy. When I first met him and we were having coffee, he declared "I hate art". Having already spotted him as DH material, I smiled and thought to myself "When I get through with you, you will love it." And he does. He thinks he's all sophisticated now because he discovered Gustav Klimt, and so now we have a Klimt nude mousepad. LOL. Whatever it takes, is my motto. Do consider the BBC series.

These are 6mm Austrain Crystals (Got them at Hobby Lobby. ) The hemitite beads come in different stregths and finishes. These are "extra strength bullet tubes" ... they are more powerful and alittle on the expensive side.... here's the site I bought them at (Arizona Bead Company ) I didn't see any info on the healing powers,Candy ... but snoop around their site - maybe you will find something. I sure have heard alot of "Success stories" with Magnets... I bet they would sell like hotcakes! The funniest thing was when I was eating at a restaurant -- the silverware kept attaching itself to my bracelet ! LOL This bracelet is strung on very thin nylon coated steel wire and is about 15" long ... The pattern of beads are : 2 hemitite /1 crystal/spacer/1 crystal/1 spacer/1 crystal . there's 10 sets of this combo with 2 extra hemitie beads on the end. I just checked out recent offers for my area and I didn't see anything I would really use. Chances are there would not be enough offers I would use in the year to make it worth the time to read the emails. LOL It's mostly restaurants and businesses I wouldn't care for. Fakey high end stuff. Some of the "deals" they offer for more basic stuff are available at no cost in local ads and coupon books. I can't see buying a coupon for a furniture store unless there is something I've actually seen at the store I plan to buy right then and there. I can usually negotiate a good deal for myself when buying things like furniture or appliances. Say I have $175 off that I paid 40 dollars for. So the real saving is $135.00. Now if I go in to buy a good quality sofa it will run about $800.00 or better. If I can talk them down just 15% I've "saved" $120. If I talk them down 20% I've "saved" $160. Then I start negotiating free delivery and get even more "savings". If the item is on sale I can still negotiate without a coupon. But with a coupon there are generally stipulations about not combining offers. Plus the clerk knows I have the coupon and have paid for it. So the salesperson knows he has a buyer with "motivation" to buy. Now I feel like if I walk into the store with a coupon I've sort of given up some (actually a lot) of my bargaining power. Also the business has to share some of their profit with Groupon so they are going to stick hard and fast to the terms of the voucher. I'd rather cut out the middle man and negotiate on my own. So it seems to me Groupon is great for those who flit around and buy things "because they are a deal". Those of us who are loyal to certain businesses and don't buy until we need aren't really good candidates for their offers.
