I'm headed to Baja Burger's for lunch, today. They make a gourmet burger topped with grilled fresh pineapple and a specialty cheese. Makes for a delicious burger, I promise.

They also add a little bit of spice to the burger.

How about taco pizza? Saute the meat, add some salsa. Spread on a pizza crust and top with cheese. Bake until heated through. Then serve with your favorite taco toppings--chopped tomatoes, sour cream, more cheese, chopped onion, shredded lettuce, olives--or whatever you enjoy. Fun dinner because it's so interactive as everyone passes the bowls of toppings. We always eat ours with a knife and for, though--they're usually too 'top heavy' to pick up.

My very favorite way to serve hmbgr is make your patty, wrap with bacon, grill.
Serve with canned bean sprouts, which have been drained, heated with soy sauce and garlic, then top the hmbrg with it.

I like to sauté onions with butter and add Worcestershire sauce then cook the meat slowly in the sauce.

My Mother would flour the hamburger patties just like a Chicken Fried Steak and make white gravy to top it off.

My kids loved scrambled hamburger with onions and add a can of Ranch Style Beans and simmer.

I like scrambled hamburger with a can of mixed veggies and a can of cream of mushroom. Serve with canned biscuits.

I love hamburger, but limit it.

Then there is "sloppy joe's". mmmmmm

Then there are foil burgers. Put Hamburger patties in a foil pocket with thin slices of potato and onion over it and bake in the oven. No dirty dishes.

Here's a quick and easy one. Where it calls for water, I use beef stock, and add 1 bay leaf. I've also added a can of new potatos before. Actually you can add whatever you want.

1 (15 oz.) can tomatoes
1 lb. ground beef
1 sm. onion
2 (15 oz.) cans mixed vegetables
1 bouillon cube
1 (15 oz.) can water

Brown ground beef in large pot. Chop 1/2 onion with ground beef. Drain cut tomatoes into quarters. Pour in pot with ground beef. Chop remaining onion, add to pot at medium heat. Add both cans vegetables and bouillon cube with 1 can water. Heat to slow boil. Simmer 20 minutes covered.

How about shepard pie? My family loves it. Cook up your hamburger, drain the fat, and season with salt and pepper. put in a 9x9 pan, layer with a can of corn-drained, a can of creamed corn, and top with mashed potatoes (I cheat with this and use instant mashed potatoes and it comes out fine), and then I sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top. Bake at 375 about 30-40 minutes or until it starts to get golden. Yummy!

Chinese Hamburger (over rice):

Brown whatever hamburger meat you have with a diced onion.

Add one (two around here) cans of green/yellow beans (water and all)
Add one can of either baby corns, or if you like water chestnuts, or anything else that takes your fancy!
Add a couple of tablespoons of soya sauce (you can use light soya too)
couple of tablespoons of brown sugar,
couple of tablespoons of vinegar
tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves mashed garlic
crushed chili peppers flakes to personal taste

You can thicken the sauce a little with cornstarch and water, or rice starch and water, but don't do it with flour.. seems too thick that way.
Simmer 20 mins or so or until rice is cooked.
Pour meat over rice, cheap, cheerful, and simple!

I sort of make the salisbury steak deluxe ( Paula's) except I add dry lipton soup mix to the meat instead of mushroom soup. I brown the meat, then mix the mushroom soup with a little kitchen bouquet so it turns brown and simmer it ,and then toss in a can of mushrooms . In fact, maybe I'll make it again this weekend if the kids come over! Kathy
