Wood Blinds OR Roman Shades in vintage/cottage kitchen?
Comments (47)marcolo, that's the plan!! athomeinva, they can look chunky pulled up, but on these small window... not so much! Wood blinds are definitely classic and period appropriate! thanks everyone.. all the responses have been very, very helpful! We have been living in the house for over a month now, and living here is what really finalized my choice. I see I need some light control as well as privacy - yet I do want to be able to pull them up - if I desire (I may not even feel I need to). I usually sacrifice function over looks... but in this case, I am picking function over what I desired for looks! I'll post pictures when blinds go up!...See Moreblinds or roman shades-need opinions
Comments (11)Thank you newdawn. But even if they are the roller type that are flat with the "fake" fold? Yes..the drapes are somewhat formal...both being paisley, heavy fabrics, pinch pleated, but no trim, no puddles. Knowing this, would you still go with plain blinds? I'm leaning against bamboo, and more towards wood blinds or canvas roller shade. Son's room is light blue walls, cream trim, khaki/camel accents, some light sage greens...so was thinking of just going with a cream color shade in that room. Actually, that color would easily work in both and I dont want to draw too much attention to the shades...just need them for privacy. Any good sources?...See MorePleated shades of cellular shades for large windows
Comments (3)I have pleated shades in the back windows of my house and they are fine .. However, I am considering the cellular shades that, in addition to pulling the bottom up, you can also pull the top down. One of my neighbors has this in their front picture window and it looks so nice. These really give you the right amount of privacy and the right amount of light that you need. They are pricey, but in my opinion worth it! Linda...See MoreAnyone use remote controlled pleated shades or blinds?
Comments (6)I don't really know very much about them but my SIL just had them installed in her weekend house and they are quite pretty, we were there last night and tonight (clamming). Hers are a slatted blind style that look like fabric, almost like silk (but I'm sure a synthetic that would be sun fast). My SIL doesn't appear to know much about them either, she told her contractor what she wanted, came back from her winter vacation and found them installed ;0) I asked her the brand, and she didn't know. The remote though says Somfy below the controls. Attractive and they appear to work well but she's spent exactly two nights there since the installation.......See MoreSnbtwins
