Oh wow! Summerfield that is BEAUTIFUL! OP - for free standing tubs, you might check out Signature Hardware. They have great prices on plumbing fixtures and a very wide range of free standing tubs. Everything from acrylic to cast iron to natural stone. I think maybe they use plumbing fixtures as a "loss leader" b/c their prices on everything else (lighting fixtures, door knobs, etc. seems high to me, but I don't think you can beat their prices on plumbing fixtures anywhere.) We brought our cast-iron claw foot tub, a 6 ft garden tub, plus all our faucets for 3 full baths, 2 half baths, the kitchen, butler's pantry, and the TV room from them. (I forgot to order a faucet for the laundry room and wound up buying something local that cost almost as much as my kitchen faucet and is not NEARLY as nice. Soon as I can possibly justify it, I'm replacing that faucet with one from Signature Hardware.) Service was great and every single piece we got was beautifully crafted, very heavy, and absolutely gorgeous. Plumber even mentioned that the faucets were about the nicest he had ever installed. My kitchen is 13'x20', and there are 7 pages of photos linked. The photos go from original to new kitchen. If you'd like any of the KD's plans, let me know. I'll scan them and add them to the photo album. One end has the working end of the kitchen, the other has the dining area. There is an 8' archway into the family room on the dining end (it used to be a 6' sliding door to the outside patio), and a 45" square window over the sink that is now just an opening into the family room - used to be a glass window overlooking a very messy patio! Thank you guys!!! bmorepanic, that is a gorgeous kitchen! Your comment about the island keeps hitting me as to size/width/legroom. I'm wondering if I should go back to my original idea and do a 24-30"D island for the sink, etc with an attached "table" in a 30"D (for legroom). That would eliminate the need for a kitchen table altogether. This one is my dream kitchen from the Coastal Living Idea House on Daniel Island (I actually took this picture myself in September '13). The sink top is 48"D and the "table" is 30"D or so. Do you think that my 24/15/30 cab-table configuration could work in my room? Or just eliminate the 15" side cabs from the island and steal room from somewhere else for misc. storage? Oh yeah , I will def. have legs for supports and such, so you're right, need more legroom than 24" like in my sketch. I really appreciate that suggestion, greenhaven, but we currently have that configuration, and have dealt with it for 20+ years at a family home, and DH and I are in agreement that we'd rather not have the cooktop there anymore. The stories you hear about people getting burned from grease while sitting across from the range are true. It has happened to me on more than a few occasions. Besides, our chef friends kick us out of the kitchen anyway. "Go away and do something! We're making 14 gallons of fish stock and you need to be gone!" :D But, try me. I'm up for being pushed into thinking more creatively by y'all, not a cocky contractor that "does it this way just because".

I love baseboard heat and can't use deflectors...I think you could have drapes to the top of the baseboard heater and to the floor on other windows. I imagine that is a no-no but I have done that in rooms with baseboard heat. Maybe if you hung your drapes from near the ceiling it will be less noticeable they are different lengths. As for your arrangement....I like what you have done but would get a entertainment console to sit your TV on....clutter can be put inside. Pull your white corner chair out farther to join the rest of your furniture. Where is the plug in closest to the sofa for the lamp? Can you get one of those rubber things to cover the cord where you walk...assuming it is behind the couch and not visable?
