Good for you!

I have a FB friend who spends her entire day doing FB games, and I think it's such a waste of her time.

I've done the same thing. Amazing how much of my life was wasted on that FB. I'm Spring Cleaning now. I just come to the computer when I need to sit a spell.

I am glad I never got started with the games. They just seemed like a big waste of time to me. I just wish people would stop sending me stuff and expecting me to send them things in return. I hardly ever go to my facebook to see what's going on.

Glad I never started. I love facebook for staying in touch with family and friends. When I get bombarded with farm, zoo, etc stuff I just go to my laptop and hide all that junk so I don't have to scroll and scroll to get past them.

I didn't get started with the games either.

I've never done the games. I can't believe how many people spend so much time on them. That's all I see when I go to FB - updates on who found a cow or something like that.

OT: I think there's a way to turn off those notifications (meaning, when I log on to FB I don't want to see everyone's game updates). Does anyone know how to do that?

I've never done facebook, but do spend a little too much time playing "Bookworm".

I gave up Farm Town awhile ago....I had all I wanted to buy for it and it was boring to farm it just to make money that I wouldn't be spending. (I didn't want to junk it up)

What's stupid is every now and then I feel sorry for my animals that I left there....LOL

I just tried Farmville to see what really goes on there and I don't understand it at all so I don't think I will get hooked. But since I finally joined in, expect it to lose popularity quickly LOL. I usually try fads right before they self-destruct.

suzie: Hover your cursor over the application (maybe just to the right of it?) and you'll see something that says Hide. Click on it. In a second, you'll be asked whether to hide the application or the friend. Be sure to pick the application!

I don't do the games any more, either. They all want $$ to buy extra time or continue playing or whatever.

Oh no! I've never gotten into Face Book at all, despite relatives constant invites,ect. But I did play the Simms when that first came out - oh my. Trying to keep those people fed and happy, get them jobs, recreation. I soon let it go, altho I collected the Simms sets just because they were so unique at the time. A couple I have never even loaded onto a computer.

I do the Farmville, but I'm going to get rid of my trees and animals and let my ground go fallow over the summer. I tried setting it up to look like an Iowa farm..although I do have some exotic trees. I didn't keep the elephants or penguins, and things like that. But..it was a nice, relaxing past time for the winter. It does, however, take a lot of time...time that I'm not going to waste doing it over the summer months. I only got into the one game because it was so time consuming. I can't imagine playing more than one of them.

Good for you, Kath. I had wondered why you weren't posting here very much.

I am on FB, and still trying to figure out how to get that Privacy message about who sees what. Never got into the games, it just sounded so useless to me, and I read about how addictive it is.

Like Bigack, I am a Bookworm fan. A week or so ago I had some Computer problems and Bookworm went poof. I know how to unpoof it but decided not to. Too many other things to do now that the weather is getting better.

I like f/b but I don't play the games or anything. I just like keeping up with people on that level, and a group of us who live all over Canada can visit almost like we're in the same room.

I think it happens to most everyone. I played for about a month and realized that it was just as someone said, a mindless games that took up way too much time. I decided to play Island Paradise because it is easy and not very time consuming so that's the only one I play these days..

Oh my gosh, Ruthie, have you seen my island?! LOL! It's nearly as bad as my farm.

I gave up Island Paradise, don't particularly care for that one anymore. And I was almost done with FarmTown when they brought in all the businesses and I'm having a little fun with that. Just upgraded to my 3rd farm, LOL. But it only takes about 45 min. for everything, so that's relaxing for me.

The one I want to quit and just haven't done it yet, is Farmville. I was down to just a couple nights a week, and then I got the puppy ... now I have to go in and feed him every day.

I'm another one who never started those games. They're just not my 'thang'. I do like to play the Mind Jolt games and Farkle. Those are just puzzle and arcade type games. I have hidden a lot of the games and applications so I don't have to see them. I love Facebook for keeping in touch with friends and family and it is an easy way to share pictures. I have mine set for friends only to see my posts.

I joined FB to look at some photos of grandkids of a friend. I found some of my former co-workers and a couple of old friends, we mostly communicate via private e-mail. I don't go there often, but when I do there are people sending me hearts and other things and some want me to send them something. I guess it's all part of games, but if I have spare time I had rather read or work on scrapbooks. Under Jodi's profile I saw where she wrote that she didn't want to be invited to play games or recieve all the stuff that you have to accapt, ignore or reject. I like the way she had it worded. I hope she doesn't mind if I borrow her quote because I'm not at all interested in taking, giving, swapping etc., at least not on Facebook. IRL I enjoy giving and swapping and such.

I went on FB quite awhile ago to keep up w/ GD. I DID find two college roommates and other friends. I am addicted to FV and it makes me mad. I bought a huge mansion the other day but can't buy 4 nails to finish my stable. I get too frustrated. So I'm winding down and doing gardening outside. What happens if you never go back? Another question. I had a friend I accidentally hid. She's still a friend but I can't see any of her posts. How do I get her back?

Good for you, Kath. I never got sucked into any of the games, I had heard how addicting they are and to someone who never played, you have no idea how bizarre it sounds that you "have to go feed the dog" every couple of days. Um. It's not a real dog- I think they're playing on your tender feelings to keep you, it's like emotional blackmail, IMO.

I wish I didn't have to see the game stuff from all my contacts, it takes up pages and pages and all I want, on the rare occasion that I bother going to Facebook anymore, is to see what my real friends are up to. And if you're a friend of a friend of a friend of mine, I won't be adding you to the list. I've mailed people like that, asking "do I KNOW you?" and they say "no, but we have friends in common." Uh- so? That doesn't mean I'm your friend, or that you are mine! Why do they want to be mine? Is it just for the numbers? Honestly, if I added everyone they suggested, I would have the entire population of FB before long.

I wish I could avoid all that junk, it's annoying and time consuming. I spend more time deleting it all, when I can, than I do using FB for it's real purpose.

I've also been tracked down and forced back into a relationship that I worked for years to let die a natural death. But some people can't take an ending too well and refuse to let go, even though we have nothing in common anymore. That was kind of annoying and is another reason I avoid going to FB, if I really wanted that person to know what I was up to, I would have stayed in contact for the last 12 years. Now she's back and I have to wean her away again.

I'm about "this" close to canceling my membership there.

Good for you Kathleen. I play the games still but don't really spend a lot of time on them like some of my FB friends do. My brother has been keeping my Farm Town going for me since with my old computer I was unable to play it any more. I have been back lately now I have this laptop but only to plant crops and send my brother fuel. I have joined some of the games because my friends needed neighbours but I don't play them. I'm almost ready to give up Farmville because of the glitches and the same for the new Treasure Isle. I don't know why I started it to begin with. I do like Treasure Madness though because you don't have to put too much time into it.

If I am on the computer I spend my time researching genealogy for myself and do look ups for my friends. Even if I am on the computer I don't sit. I am up and down doing the things around the house that need doing. I don't usually turn my computer on until after 7 pm, then turn it off and then back on after 11 pm. Sometimes I will check in during the day and then forget to shut FB down until I noticed the computer shut down because the battery needed charging. I guess I should keep it plugged in.

Most of my friends that play the games like Farmville and Farmtown are at a much higher game level than I am because I just don't spend that kind of time playing. LOL With my old computer that was slow it would take me much longer to do anything compared to how fast my friends got things done. LOL Accepting gift requests on FB was very time consuming and took a long time so when I got this laptop I started to go through all of the gifts and accepted some and got rid of the others and most had expired. Every time I got rid of 100 there was another 100 that had been stored and when I got rid of them there was another 100. There was over 1000 gifts that had been sent to me for the games. I couldn't believe it. LOL That is the reason I don't send out very many game gifts to my friends unless they ask for them.

All you have to do is hide the (insert name of the game here) and it will never show up on your page again...It gives you the choice of blocking the person or just the game so why deal with it if you don't want to do so.

That's kinda sad, Flamingo, about your old friend. Hopefully she will get the hint that you don't want anything to do with her. I wondered what happened to an old grade school friend of mine, we drifted apart in junior high and high school. I requested her as a friend and she hasn't accepted my request. I can take a hint, why would you keep bugging a person who obviously doesn't want to get in contact with you?

Weird thing is 2 other people from high school/grade school who I was never really friends with, requested me. I guess they were just wondering "what ever happened to her".

I'm also friends with friends of friends here from the Kt, I accepted them because we were all playing the same games. Now it seems kinda weird. lol.

I have been addicted to Cafe World for a while now and keep telling myself that I need to just forget about it. But, I have this urge to get to a higher level, so I keep on with it. I don't have a lot of time to spend playing, as I work during the day. I try to spend half an hour max in the evening. But, with that said, I could be doing something more productive with that 30 minutes. I do have to say that it seems to help me relax and takes away some of the work related stress.
