Anyone watch the country award show last night?

I am curious if it was just me, but I thought the music was awful for the most part. It certainly didn't sound like country music to me but more like pop rock.

Any opinions?

Just watch part of it, but what I did see I was disappointed as my definition to country music is different.

I used to love country music but have travelled away from it the past couple years.

I do not like Taylor Swift, the young guys now, Rascal Flatts, etc. They are all pop singers.

I LOVE (now defunct) Brooks and Dunn, George Strait, Alan Jackson, etc.

I think both Mark and Kelly have shown some real growth this season. I believe that Mark learned something when he went home and got to see himself the way others see him. If he's faking all the tears and softness, he deserves an Academy Award. As soon as Kelly weighed in this week and knocked him below the yellow line, he still yelled out a 'good job Kelly'. And trust me, I despised him earlier on. I don't like Roger at all and it doesn't seem like the other contestants or the host think much about him either. Maybe Dan idolized him but the maturity level on the ranch skyrocketed after Dan left and Roger didn't have anyone left buying and selling his fratboy/college football player malarkey. I think he's a bully but since he's always been a candidate to be the BL due to his size, he was given a soft edit. I think they need to reconsider what makes the BL the BL. By going just by percentage, it's unfair to those contestants who just don't have as much to lose as others. That's why I kind of like the gameplay aspect of it (which was way overdone this season) since that's the only chance some of the other contestants have but when it comes down to the final 3 or 4, there's an unfair playing field since the smaller players just can't lose the same percentage of weight and still be, well, alive and well.

We just agreed on the team who received the highest score (Loved it when the daughter helped another team and said she lived her life treating people fairly and didn't plan to do any different here.) We felt it was too bad they couldn't eliminate more than 1 at a time! How do people become SO impressed with themselves?

Thank you for your kind comments! She is a sweetheart. She's lived in Paris her whole life but because my brother is American, she is completely and seamlessly bilingual. She has been studying acting for a while, but this is her big break. I've got my fingers crossed for her!

💉💉💉 Pfizer says it will be unlikely to have additional Covid vaccine for the US until the summer. It’s been reported that months ago the US had an opportunity to contract for many more doses but declined. That’s very unfortunate. There is some moderate immunity conferred after the first shot, so that’s good news. The side effects felt after the second injection (a few weeks later) are along the lines of those experienced by the second Shingles shot — sore arm at the injection site for a day or two, and some feeling of blah all over. Just for a day or so. This demonstrates that the person’s immune system is responding. The vaccine has NO virus in it, but instead just a piece of the genetic code of the virus. There is no way that the vaccine can cause the virus in those injected. Dr. Kavita (sp) Patel (MSNBC) said she got to read some of the documents and details and is optimistic. A few weeks ago, she was waiting to see that information before committing to taking it. In Wales, vaccinations have begun and their system of prioritizing and administering (the logistics, and set up) seem exceptionally well organized and thought out. Wales has been hit very hard. From some of the video footage and narrative on MSNBC, it appears that after the vaccine has been removed from the very cold freeze, it can be administered within a five day window. I am feeling better about this. Oh, and as many of you might know, a lot of this vaccine development had been somewhat researched during the similar SARS epidemic. So researchers were not starting from a blank slate.

How can you not LOVE Taylor Swift? She's a decent young woman, doesn't dress provacatively, writes and sings age-appropriate songs.

I was going to watch the awards, even though I'm not the biggest country fan, but so much has been going on around here, just never got to it.

But Taylor Swift was the reason I was going to watch. She mentioned the local young man she invited to the awards. Sadly, he's been too ill this week (he's being treated for cancer) to go to the show--she'd arranged for his transportation, ticket, even tux. Unfortunately, it was last minute that it was determined that he was simply not well enough to make the trip. She's such a class act--she called, spoke to him and promised to make it up to him. I wouldn't care if her voice sounded like a croaking frog (which it doesn't), I'd be a fan. Nice to see a decent young woman with a heart!

I like new country. I like Rascal flatts, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift is good, but over played. I didn't see much, but Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney were good together. I didn't get the Bono thing. I guess he just likes to get his face and name out there anyway, anywhere.

I like Zach Brown, Uncle Cracker, Brad Paisley has such a fun sense of humor. I like some of the songs of The Band Perry. I like Miranda Lambert, Oooh, and what's her face that did the duo with the guy from train! lol

I saw Tim and Kenny, then the weird Bono tape, and Oh, yea, Martina McBride and that strange wedding. That was odd. Those are the 3 little spots I saw. lol

Yeah, didn't get why Bono or even KISS was there?? Some of the music I didn't care for, not very country, although, I do like country-rock sound. I just didn't like those particular people. When Sarah Evans was singing that song, all through it I was trying to figure out who's song it was. I love that song but the other version I knew was 100x better. Finally, it dawned on me that Rod Stewart sang it on one of the CDs I have.

I really like Taylor Swift, she's a sweet girl. I hope the whole fame thing doesn't destroy her like it has so many others. I even like her music, much to my dd's annoyance. She'll turn it from my old rock station to country (which I don't listen to much anymore) and Taylor Swift will come on and she'll change it, I make her change it back. I guess she gets tired of hearing her but since I don't listen to country stations it's not annoying for me. Loved her song at the Grammy's too.

Lionel Richie, Bono and Kiss? I didn't get it. I am not a big country fan, but since they have blurred the live between country and pop there are more songs I like(ish). Taylor is sweet and I can see why young girls adore her.

There was one country song that always got me. I don't know the title but it was about having a daughter while your young and then thinking she is your life.

I miss Patsy Cline. In fact, I Fall to Pieces.

I'm not saying Taylor is not a nice girl. She is.
I don't care for her voice that's all.

LOVE Lady Antebellum, really like Zach Brown, too.

like Country..but then she doesn't sing Country. Was
the Award Show about her good works, or her singing?

I don't like much Country, but I am kind of hooked on
Lady Antebellum. And, used to like Alan Jackson.

It's the new country, I guess things change, for sure. When I was a kid, I hated country (back when it was country western), it was too twangy. Now I LOVE Hank Williams' songs. WE listen to the old stuff in the car on XM Radio.
Alan Jackson performed, I think. He has a beautiful new song and video out, "So You Can Stop Loving Me" I think is the name.
And Mirand Lambert singing her new (to me) song...we had the captioning on, and I loved that song.
Zac Brown, Lady Antebellum...good stuff!

I have always loved country music--the old and the new. But last night's show was not one of the best, IMO. I do love Blake and Miranda, and I'm so glad they won. Taylor is good, but not great as a singer. But from everything I've heard, she is a wonderful person.
