Looked at cats this weekend ... lots of cats

Yesterday, we went to a shelter a friend of ours works at and looked at all the cats there. It's a pretty small place. DH was quite taken with a large, black male who they were guessing was about 5 (he was a stray).

Then today we went to what is probably the flagship shelter in the country. It's beautiful, with state-of-the art kitty condos with the litter boxes in a private alcove in each one and several large playrooms full of cat trees and toys with sliding glass doors so potential adopters can take the cats in there and play with them. They also take the cats out of the compartments and let them run around and play. The cats all seemed happy, clean, and healthy.

We spent about 3 hours there, and by the time we left my head was spinning on kitty overload.

The little kittens were very, very cute, but we focused on the adult cats because we know they are harder to adopt. We had to put in an application for a specific cat as our first choice, but it was so hard to choose. The first cat we liked does not seem to like other cats much, although she tolerates them. We really have been wanting to get two, so our second choice was a pair that seemed to play together very well -- they're not related to each other, but they are both full of energy while not being aggressive.

Now we wait for someone to review our application and call us.

We still haven't ruled out the black cat at the first shelter, either.
