Last chance on DIY Basement toilet fumes

My basement bath toilet was emitting odors that I could detect were coming in around the flange area. Last year I installed tile floor and broke one side of the flange installing the toilet to tight. It was fine for almost a year - it's rarely used.

Weeks ago it got real smelly and I detected a slight wobble. I bought a new toilet and a flange repair device which I screwed into the cement and Flange with Tap screws. It's secure.

I placed a double size wax ring on the toilet and my wife and I lowered it over the flange (she did have some trouble finding the bolt on her side as we lowered it).

Two days later the smell is worse than ever.

What could it be? The tiles are thin. There is only 1/4 inch between flange and top of the tiles. I did have to squish the double wax ring some by moving the toilet to get it flush with the tiles. I tightened the two nuts as tight as I dared and there is no movement of the toilet. She wants to call a plumber - any ideas on what else I could try? I am willing to remove it one more time.

Thanks - Jack
