I've been using Avon roll-on for years.....unscented.

Dial unscented roll on. Can't use anything but roll on unscenteds. And pray no body decides to change the formula, or I'm in search of a new one. AGAIN. No idea how many times I've had to change since I was a teenager.

I don't wear deodorant. I need and antiperspirant. I only buy the ones with Aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly. Its the only thing that truly works for me.

solid for years and years and they stopped
making it! I just cannot use the invisible
solids because it always feels sticky!!

Deodorant? You mean I ought to wear a deodorant? Gosh, what a novel idea!
I use Suave powder scent solid. I like it because it smells good (if it does, then won't I?), and is inexpensive and I can actually manage to turn the little thingy at the bottom to make the stick rise above the rim.

Suave baby powder scent here too.

I, too, am devastated that Secret discontinued the unscented solid. Invisible deoderants make me break out. Scents give me no end of problems.

At the moment, I'm using uncented Sure solid when I can find it (it, too, is getting sparce in the stores) or unscented Right Guard if it's all I can get my hands on.

It's awful when you finally find a product that doesn't give you skin or respiratory allergic reactions--and then they go and discontinue it. GRRRR.

Years ago I went to a hairdresser who told me that they taught her in beauty school to alternate deoderants rather than use the same one day after day. Supposedly using the same one tends to render them ineffective after awhile. I do know that hairdressers have to be very concience of underarm odor and have to admit, I have never had a smelly one waved over my nose while getting my hair washed.

working pretty good so far. We'll see after the
summer temps get here! My sister uses it too.

Tom's of Maine Calendula but I'll grab anything that is close by if I'm out. I especially like the scent of men's sport deodorants.

I just bought some new today. I don't always buy the same kind. This was on clearance and it has a nice faint fragrance to it. It is Secret Rock Star Rose and it says it is invisible.

I prefer unscented too but right now I am using Degree Fresh Shower scent solid.

Those powdery and floral scents give me a headache.

I can't stand those gel deodorants and even some solids feel too slimy. All Dove products seem to be made of 90% grease. Hair products,deodorants and soap....all have that ick factor to me. LOL

Mitchum's Antiperspirant stick.....have used it for many, many years.

Whatever. I have no favorite.

I too have been using Mennen's for years. I've never found anything any better to keep me from being stinky and sweaty.

Hmmm. I doubt it. Similar, perhaps, but I don't believe it'd be the same. Secret is made by Procter & Gamble while Sure is made by Innovative Brands (in the US, Unilever in the UK/Europe). P&G does not make any store brands nor do they contract OEM brands. It's highly doubtful, rather next to impossible to believe that they *could* be the same either, considering P&G's propensity to sue to protect its trademarks and property rights, whether it's a plastic coffee can or the pattern on a paper towel! The Sure brand was sold to Innovative by P&G some years back but I find it incredulous that they'd sell the formula for a Secret brand product. I could even believe they were at one time nearly identical but I'd seriously doubt the possibility today. But if the net result is the same, that's all that matters.

OT: I miss the Mitchum spray. Best stuff I ever used but no longer available. But now often I just bathe frequently enough I don't need it but when I do I use Old Spice High Endurance or Arm & Hammer spray.

For those of you who do not care for, or have skin problems from chemical deodorants and/or antiperspirants you may want to try using milk of magnifier. It was recommended on another forum here in a "deodorant" thread.

I have been experimenting with its use and found that it does seem to work. In fact it seems to work as good as any retail deodorant or antiperspirant on the market. The bonus is that it is way cheaper to use. I bought the peppermint milk of magnesia not because of the scent but because they were out of the regular when I went to buy it and I was in a hurry to try it. the peppermint scent is actually quite nice. There has been no harm to any of my clothing using this.

P&G own both labels. Like so many items like laundry detergent and other stuff it is all about labeling and who the market target is.

Ah. I see P&G has sold the Sure brand. Well if the formula went with it,it would still be the same.

It didn't matter much when I was younger but now the only thing that doesn't make me ITCH like crazy is Dove Sensitive Skin. Before I found that I would sometimes use and Aloe Vera gel to stop the itching and it also seemed to prevent odor for a little while.

I think we are far to obsessed with how we smell. Most Americans shower almost every day or so anyway.

I know that I shower every day or two and only use my deodorant after a shower. As far as I can tell I don't stink. LOL

What I don't understand is using a solid or roll on deodorant on a "dirty" body. Smell is caused by sweat combining with bacteria. Why cross contaminate? In the summer I keep a can of spray antiperspirant around for those touch-ups if the need arises.

I hear ya about the cross contamination issue. (Yuck. That's like people who swill out of the mouthwash bottle and backwash.) But, I don't care to inhale chemical mist either. They make underarm deodorant wipes for emergencies. Avon, Dove and Sephora are just some of the brands that made wipes. I don't see the Avon ones anymore. Deodorant wipes are hard to find in stores and even online, but there are brands out there.

When using aerosols I hold my breath and run out of the area. LOL

The article isn't dated so there's no way to know the age of the info. Names are often sold without the patents. If the formula went with it, I concede. Given it's been 4+ years since the brand was sold I'm still skeptical on it being the same this long after especially with the changes to the other lines. But I could be wrong. And as I said, the main thing is whether it works the same for the consumer. Two completely different items can accomplish the same end result.

And the smell obsession is crazy. Detergent + fabric softener + anti-static spray + hair spray + shampoo + soap/body wash + deodorant + the garlic bagel for breakfast.... Some people smell like a chemistry experiment gone bad!

That's what I love about the home made laundry detergent! No smell.

If you use vinegar in the rinse, another no smell!

Don't own and never used anti static spray, same with hair spray.

My shampoo doesn't have much smell, neither does the conditioner. But I love my lavender smelling bar of soap. :)

For me, unscented deodorant, usually what ever is cheapest. :)
