Comments (4)Pool newbie, A VS pump is not a 2-speed pump! A VS pump can run from 400 rpm to 3450 rpm. you can dial in the flow you need. Example: you can set the pool at 1500 rpm and then when you use the spa you run the pump at 3450 rpm which should easily run 6-8 or more. The important factor is to size the plumbing for the max flow of about 160 gpm for the spa. The controller does the work after the set up. push the pool button and get the lower flow rate. Then hit the spa button and the controller tells the pump to move to 3450 rpm or whatever you have set....See MoreSpa (Quickly) pumping into pool!
Comments (7)I'm not sure of the automated system you have, we install Jandy RS systems. In AUTO, for a pool/spa combo during normal operation, water is drawn from the surface skimmer and or drains in the pool, and returned to both the pool and the spa. In SPA mode, the valve actuators will turn on both the suction side and the return side and isolate the spa from the pool. I suspect the service crew opened the spa suction and never returned it to it's proper position for normal operation. So now water is being drawn from the pool and the spa simultaneously. The return to the spa is not enough to keep up with the water being drawn from it. If you can determine which line on the front part of the pump is the spa suction, the valve should be in a position that doesn't allow water to flow through. There is a toggle switch that moves the valve to 2 different positions. Spa mode and pool mode. If you post a pic of the pool equipment, it would be easier to identify. I would shop for a new service company. And, they should be responsible for this issue. You did not have this issue before they arrived, but upon their departure, you do now....See Morewhen pool motor is on is the spa jets on,(no heat) new motor,
Comments (1)The pool guy may be correct, you may not have a problem at all. Spas can draw a lot of electrical current when everything is on, but the manufacturers realize that not everyone may have all this power available. For instance, maybe there is only a 120v outlet near the spa and the homeowners don't have the $$ to upgrade the electrical service. So, the manufacturers often have several ways to wire a spa to use what power is available. For example, if my spa is only connected to a 120 volt, 20 amp receptacle, when the main pump runs, the electrical heater is shut off; the heater would only be allowed to run when the main pump is off. On the other hand, with a 240 volt, 30 amp service to my spa, the main pump and heater can run whenever needed/desired....See Moremas985
