Tumbled Marble backsplash
Comments (6)We used tumbled travertine marble and wanted a more golden color. The tile lady said to use an enhancing sealer which would make it look like the tile color when it was wet. Our tile installer used 2 coats of enhancing sealer. You can also use non-enhancing sealer if you do not want to change the original color of the tile. I'm not sure how the enhancing sealer will change your gray tiles, but if you wet one, that should tell you. Also consider that the grout will usually spread across the tiles and fill in the holes and irregularities. So, consider the grout color you will use. There are some threads relating to spreading the grout vs. not spreading the grout. Comments (17)Marcy96, Love your space. Beautiful! ~boxer Hi Maryb2010, When I first started thinking about my reno. I had a few specific ideas, after 4 months those ideas changed. The more I am around kitchens, looking for my own planning, helping others, ides on GW... the more I see things I love and those ideas I had when I started have faded or changed. One way to start is to figure out your "Do or Die" list. What do you love? And it does not matter who else loves it but you and your DH of course. And from there plan your space. The Sweeby test is a great tool to help you figure out what your "Do or Die" is. It sounds like you love white, cottagey and that is a super start. And a search through FKB (Finished Kitchens Blog) on GW will help with seeing what others have done. FKB can give you ideas and help those creative juices spark. Here are a few white cottage kitchens with pale counters. And tumble stone marble bs are great. Get what you love! ~boxer...See Moreapplying backsplash to sheetrock
Comments (1)Use a latex modified thinset. From Lowes, it would be Laticrete's Multipurpose, and from Home Depot, it would be Custom's Versabond. You don't want to use adhesive (mastic) for natural stone, because the oils in it tend to put a mottled "stain" into the stone that takes upwards of several weeks to dry back out....See MoreCan I see your white subway tile?
Comments (13)Hi Laurielep, I don't have the subway pattern, I just have a simple white sq 4x4 tile with white grout. But my kitchen is white so it works. Below are subway tiles with wood style kitchens. Not sure if any are specifically maple but it does give you a better idea how the white subway tile will look with a wood kitchen. I wish I could say go for a cream grout but I would need to be up close to see the colors. Since your granite is a medium beige brown, have you thought about a cream subway tile rather than white? I think that might flow better. But this is just mho. Best of luck, ~boxerpups A GardenWeb kitchen by Vjrnt Picasweb image Below are kitchens with a beige counters and using a cream or beige tile bs. (not white) See what I mean by the cream going better with the overall look. I love the one below. It is a square tile but set on a V angle to give it a different look rather than the traditional left to right. This same design could be done with a far cheaper plain tile. NewFacekitchenstories I know this is an expensive tile but look at the beige color with the cabs. It seems to flow so nicely....See Morepbrisjar
