Thank you! You can see in the last photo that we miscalculated with the cabinetry in the laundry room. The previous cabinets were standard height, but i wanted the new ones to go all the way up to the ceiling. Cabinet Guy didn't even think about the attic access, so they had to put a different trim around the ceiling cabinets instead of crown. Our cabinet guy. . . he's Something Else.

Les, the best part of those lights. . . they were ---wait for it---$2.60 each. Yes, you read that right! Progressive Lighting was closing one of its outlet stores and I went on the day everything went to 70% off the outlet price, and was with a lighting guy who had purchased $10,000 of lights for a 20,000 square foot house the week before so they gave me (him, really) an ADDITIONAL 25% off! That was 95% off the outlet price.. . they were originally about $100 each.

I bought a new chandelier for $110; it was available on the web on sale for $3,198. Lighting Guy is having the gold on the chandelier refinished to look more like the other gold I have in that room (toned down). When it is hung I will post a picture of my new light. I am still over the moon about these bargains. For the first and probably only time I was at the right place at the right time, with the right person!

Very pretty. I love, love, loooove the new wallpaper. Wish I could do something like that, but I've found I can't live with strong patterns. (Remember the mistakes thread? I also have a Tibetan primary colors rug that didn't last long) Maybe in a laundry room, though, hmmmmm.

The kitchen also looks great. I'm glad to see you didn't get the Chinese chippendale chairs; we had considered them but found them incredibly uncomfortable on the back. Love the ones you ended up with. The whole area just looks like a great place to have a leisurely breakfast. Oh, and BTW, where DID you find that creamy vase on the table?

Dee I was warned about those uncomfortable Adler CC chairs, but I still like that cool 60's vibe they give. I think we are the only people to whom the NY times still mails the paper, we spend a good bit of time there reading it. That planter came from our florist, it is Italian and I love it---just brought it home yesterday :)

I know what you mean about the strong patterns. I have chinoiserie toile in a hall bathroom and other large patterns in other baths . . . no papers in bedrooms. I do not spend any time to speak of in the laundry room but love seeing the paper as I walk by. The background of the paper is the same color red as the upper walls in the dining room which is adjacent. Very weird layout--the main reason I wanted the laundry room to look really nice, it faces the front of the house.

Dee those "new" chairs were actually given to me by my mother a few weeks ago. She was tired of them so I brought them home and had them painted. When she bought them Mom thought the carving should be on the backs of the chairs so you could see it when they were pushed into the table, so the company made four just for her 30 years ago :) She had them do a carving of dogwood flowers and leaves instead of whatever they normally did, as that is our state flower here in Georgia, so they really are very special for me.

Both rooms are beautiful! And this is high praise coming from someone who is not particularly a "green" fan. Love the wall color, the lights, the beadboard, the plates on the wall, it all works together beautifully! I also adore the parsons chairs and the fabric on them. Looks great with your painted chairs. I'm on the lookout for some chairs for my dining room and possibly using parsons chairs as host chairs.

Oh! Also - that is a beautiful orchid. Love the container you have it in.

I love everything! Your laundry room is spectacular. Mine is a tiny cave in my basement so I have serious laundry room envy right now. And that is a perfect place to use a wallpaper that's a little 'over the top'. Love it.

Thanks for all these kind comments! Tina, those parsons chairs came right out of my home office. I have been using that fabric for years---- it's a diagonally running band along the bottom edge of the Laura. Ashley toile dust ruffle on our bed . . . My chair at the bedroom secretary is upholstered in it, and I have a parsons chair upholstered with it in my closet! It's my neutral :). Am going to get another parsons chair in this so I will have four matching ones in case we someday end up in a house with a round breakfast table that needs them. I have used the material since it
was first introduced in a Ballard catalog in the late 90's, I think.

The cushions on the kitchen chairs will be a small design box cushion piped in the plaid with thin plaid ties.

Is anything really too over the top for a laundry room? I think that's the one place in the house where you can do whatever you want, whatever you would never do in other parts of the house! Everything looks amazing!!

Lol, sashasmommy . . . They have Mancaves, we have Laundry rooms. . . theres an essential unfairness there that gives us the right to go over the top, I agree :)

Your kitchen reminds me of a garden on a beautiful spring day. I love the lights, the chairs, the paint... and just about everything in the room. Your laundry room cabinets are gorgeous. I myself am in the process of livening up my laundry room. Being in nice surroundings makes folding clothes more fun and less of a chore!
