I had a wonderful lunch today and it wasnÂt just the food. I got to meet Loves2cook4six. If you may recall, she posted a RAK thread, offering up her unused Foodsaver containers. I respond and since she lives very close to me, and even closer to my office, we agreed to meet for lunch.

Sorry, but no photos. I have noticed that she is a private person, so I did not even bring my camera. But I can tell you that she is very pretty and even better, a very nice warm person.

We met at noon at JoleneÂs, a newer cafÃ©/restaurant in Glenview, not far at all for either of us. We arrived at the same time, were seated promptly and started to talk. And talk and talk until it was time for her to go home at 3. We had also planned to stop in at the Viking Cooking School and store, but, well, we talked too long. In fact, the staff ever so politely nudged us out as they were starting a private Christmas party at 3.

Our tastes are similar, and since couldnÂt decide what to order, we started by sharing grilled Ahi tuna on a bed of mixed greens, beautifully rare and well presented. LC46 ordered the chicken sandwich with blue cheese and I had the Harvest salad, with turkey, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and more mixed greens. Wonderful! We then split a desert, the Mozart torte, a chocolate mousse with a pistachio cream in the center.

We ended with a hug and the promise to do this again. This is one promise I intend to keep. I am very lucky, I have said it before, meeting others from the CF is fantastic. So many good, kind people are here.

Awwwww! Next time, phood photos! Peppi, I love the abbreviation 'LC46'. Can we keep using it?

The girls are soon to be 7 months old and my son moved over to Poland before Thanksgiving. He comes back here every few months but plans to stay there until the immigration applications for his wife and babies are processed so they can all move here. He's quite the Mr. Mom now that his wife has gone back to work. Of course he has his mother in law and a twice a week nanny to help but he's falling into the routine rather effortlessly. Something about this younger generation of parents..the Mom's expecting full participation by the Dad's. Weird. I couldn't wait for my husband to go back to work after we brought the baby home.

Thanks everybody you're very nice and kind ;o) Thanks Lydia, Ever since Moni suggested wearing red for support to our Kt friends on Thursdays I've tried to make sure I follow through, and Moni looks fantastic in Red! Aw that so sweet Marilyn, thanks and someday I'd like to meet you too! Well he did act like a young Don Knots but he looked more like a young and of course chubby Dom DeLouise! Thank you everyone for your compliments you are all being so nice. It is nice when KT people can get together. We're spending the week at our place in northeast PA so it was only a 30 or so mile drive to met Susan at a restaurant. My husband and I had been cutting logs into rounds for 2 days so I told him I wanted a fun day. The kids come up tonight so tomorrow it's back to firewood duty - we rented a hydraulic log splitter and we're planning on getting 2 or 3 cords of wood split and stacked for the winter. I feel like the productive country mouse from the children's fable.

It does sound like a wonderful time and I respect the no people photos, but I agree with Jessy - there should be food fotos! Glad you had a great time :-)

Thanks everyone - It really was amazing!!! I walked into Jolane and there was Peppi exactly as she said she would be.

She's pretty much told you everything but I want to add a bit. Peppi is the first cooking forum friend I've met in real life and she was raving about some of the other friends she's met through here. If y'all are half as nice as she claims, I can't wait to meet more of you. Next time anyone is in Chicago or passing through, drop me an email and we can get together for more of this addictive kind of fun.

We talked so much and had such a great time they had to kick us out - very politely of course - but then we had already been there for THREE hours!! Where did that time go? Good thing Peppi wasn't working that day - that was a very long lunch hour.

I had the best girlfriend lunch ever. Most of my girlfiends are salad nibblers and forget about dessert. Peppi and I shared a delicious lunch and between the two of us we finished most of it.

When we were emailing back and forth to set it all up she said something to me that just struck a chord..."Never trust a skinny cook". I'm framing it for my kitchen - it just made me feel so warm and good. Of course I can't let that be an excuse not to get to a healthier weight but it is a lovely thought :)

Next time, and i know there wil definitely be one, we will take pictures and maybe I'll get brave enough to put a picture of myself on the internet.

I had to run, barely made it home before the bus, but I did. Peppi did you run into the Viking shop? Just wondering if that's where you picked up that cool (hot) pepper de-seeder?

So nice to hear about two forum members meeting up and enjoying each others company over a lovely lunch!

Yes we want photos next time, at least of the food but would love to see you two together as well!

That's great! I've met a few members and I was on cloud 9 for a week people are just so great here.

It's nice that you two live so close together so you can get together from time to time.

It sounds like you both had a great time. I hope next year to be able to meet more of you in person. I'm making it a goal anyway. If anyone is ever in Kansas City, I hope you will let me know!
