somewhat more accurate still, large parts of coastal Denmark are solidly zn 8; Copenhagen's record low is 0F which is better than all but a handful of locations north of the NC/VA state line. Even in Gdansk, south of a part of the Baltic which can partly freeze, the all time record low is only -10F..."warmer" than Washington, DC's. This isn't to say, as NJoasis points out, that every subtropical plant will be easy to grew in coastal NW Europe. LOL Timmy and cearab. I'm glad you could have fun with my play on words;-) I look forward to hearing how to make "Woodchuck sausage." I don't have curbside pick up of debris. In fact, I don't even have garbage pickup. I make a once a week dump run for regular garbage. Our yard waste has to go to an even farther away dump. I do drive up to Va every Sunday in the fall to pick up bagged leaves off the curb. It's about a 45 minute drive to my old neighborhood. I must admit that I sometimes find myself wondering, as I'm opening the bags, just what I might find lurking in them.....So far I haven't found any severed body parts! Thank goodness! I can squish a Japanese Beetle with my bare fingers but I sure couldn't handle finding anyone's fingers!

This is a great idea, lattice over a board fence. Something I've been looking for. Originally I was going to put up a whole length of solid board fence but didn't think it would create the right look, not natural enough. Lattice alone that tall would be too "airy". But lattice over board works for me! And I'd paint it Tinkertown Green. $250? That doesn't include the board fence, which was already there, right? Hmmm. I'll have to get estimates on privacy fence first.
