I'd definitely go with the green. I think it would look more vintage and make your kitchen pop, with the butter yellow walls.
Besides, your husband loves it!

Another vote for the "beautiful dark green."

Personally, I would shy away from a definite color and go more neutral on a permanent (expensive!) surface. You can always paint the walls green if you like green, but you'll be stuck with a green counter you may not like or get tired of in a few years.

I recently installed verde peacock in my kitchen and it looks fabulous. It is similar to the verde butterfly that you are considering but has some gold in it instead of the white that is usually in the butterfly version. I have a anthracite silgranite sink with it. I also have the New Venetian Gold or Santa Cecelia ( don't remember which one ) in my laundry room. In my opinion the verde peacock is much more dramatic and richer looking than the the NVG. I have wood cabinets in both rooms though and not painted like you do but if you'd like to see a picture I will post one.

Hello badgergal. Thanks for offering to post a picture - I saw a picture of your sink in the silgranite post and was wondering which granite it was . . it caught my eye and is very BEAUTIFUL. The salesperson was raving about how nice the green looks with the white cabs and while I do love the granite myself, I just had my heart set on a sandy beige during this 2 year process which, I will be the first to admit would be a safe or boring choice for some, but then I looked at what I am wearing today - brown pants and a cream sweater . . . kind of like the granite I was looking at yesterday! I don't recall seeing a faucet in your photo . . . what finish faucet did you use if I may ask? TIA.

I had this same issue. I loved Costa Esmeralda but had a very hard time finding a floor tile that would work with it and with the oak floors in the adjoining rooms - white oak in the dining room (I removed the wall to combine rooms) and red oak floor in the family room.

My 2nd choice was a granite with creams and reddish browns. I ended up going with a granite called Caramello which was easier to match to a tile in the shades I needed. While it wasn't my first choice, it made the rest of the choices easier.

As you will be replacing your floor tile, find one that you like first then see which granite is a better fit.

I lean toward Verde in what you describe. The Verde pavao or
green butterfly is gorgeous and especially with dove

I love the green because it is gorgeous. The fact that it is less commonly used is also a big selling point to me.
To me, life is too short to get a boring stone. I have not seen your sandy color granite, but I have seen the green one. I am only basing my opinion for the sandy one on your description. I would not want to spend that kind of money on something that was not special. I am a real estate agent and see sandy/beige type counters all the time.

We have seafoam green granite counters and I love them. We've had them about a year, but I'm not anywhere close to bored. We have yellowish walls, medium wood cabinets, and tile floors that look similar to limestone. If I ever get bored with the look, I can always paint the cabinets white and it will still look great. That being said, you need to use something YOU really like. Green is probably my favorite color, and it's used elsewhere in our house. The seafoam is also not an evenly patterned material, it has areas of variation to it, so you have to take the characteristics of the stone you are looking at into consideration for your total design.

Catlover,the faucet I used is the Grohe Ladylux3 stainless.I like it much better than my previous pullout faucet. I can't really say how it compares to other pull down faucets. The style of the faucet had the look we were going for-more contemporary. I was faucet shopping with my neighbor last week and she picked the Delta Leland faucet. You might want to look at that one. i think it would look great in a 1940s cottage house.
As far as your granite choice goes. I think you answered your own question when you said "I just had my heart set on a sandy beige during this 2 year process" Go with what you love and you will not be sorry. Don't worry about your husband liking the other granite. IMO men aren't quite as emotionally attached to the kitchen as women and he probably won't be too hurt by not getting his granite preference. My DH wanted a pot filler and I nixed that. He has mentioned to friends that the only thing he really wanted in the kitchen, he didn't get. Four months have gone by now and he seems to have forgotten about it.

for what its worth, here is a picture of my laundry room granite? Does it look like the NVG you are considering? You cant see in this picture but this granite has beautiful nice size garnet colored splotches in it. I love those garnet colored spots!

I found a picture of the Delta Leland Faucet. Here is how it looks in the single handle version. That's the soap dispenser next to it. My neighbor got hers for under $200 dollars at Home Depot. The faucet has a magnet to bring it tightly back into position after pulling it down. That seems like a nice feature.

I love green butterfly. We almost got it. I still have a sample and I love looking at it. The colors are beautiful and there is always something subtle to amaze you when you stare at it.

here are a few visuals. This is truly a tough choice as
both look lovely.

Are you going for an open & airy look or a more dramatic look? Looking at the pics above, that's what stood out to me.

NVG + light painted cabs = light, airy, sweet & comfy

VB + light painted cabs = dramatic pop, looks expensive, WOW!!

I'm familiar with both granites and they are both lovely. If you have an island I would say VB on the perimeter & NVG on the island or vice versa. Without an island you will just need to decide which look you're going for.

NeedHelpJean Doing over my kitchen and finding choice of granite very hard. Floor is cream and cabinets are cream (coffee washed white). Great room floor plan with walls light gold. Hood over cooktop and center island will be a rich brown color. Large sink counter, center island and back cooktop counter. Lot of granite. Have been considering verde butterfly because it would breakup white cabinet and floor and give a rich look. Some people tell me it would be hard to take care of because too black. Live in Florida and back of great room all glass sliders. Would like something to tie in brown and blue . Blue leather couches nearby. No green in room except oriental rugs. Help!
