Show me your LR drapes
Comments (25)Those panels are nice. I would start with the drapes first...then select the paint color. Far easier to match paint to fabric than the other way around. Once you select the the drapes, then you can decide on the rods. If the fabric is more browns then go with the bronze or antique brass hardware. If the fabric is more gray, then go with the satin nickel. From your pics, it looks like the rooms are separate enough that they can be different, but it's nice when the rooms relate in some way. I'd suggest keeping window treatments in mind for both rooms when selecting the drapes. Often you can find coordinating valances if you buy from the same place. For the kitchen area window, think about what you need...light control? privacy? temperature control? That will help you decide what function you want the treatment to perform. Then you can decide if that's best done with drapes, just a valance, roman shades, etc....See MoreHelp furnish and decorate family room
Comments (6)I love playing with rugs in rooms, so found some to show you ... mostly to get an idea of what you like (and don’t like) as far as designs, colors, styles, etc. I really like the warmer tones, but that’s just my own preference and you may want cooler tones. These are all from Rugs USA because they have the “See it in my room” option (if you’d like to do some of your own). eSale Rugs and West Elm have that ability, too. Keep in mind that mock-ups of course look a bit different ... these are more vivid-looking here than in real life and, in some pics, the patterns are skewed somewhat. If you go to the individual rug page, you’ll see they look better. :) _____________________________ https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-abstract-waterfall/Blue/200RZBD04A-P.html _____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-vespertina/Blue/200OWMC05A-P.html ____________________________________ ___________________________________ https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/oriental-weavers-049/Blue/132049S7-P.html _____________________________________ ____________________________________ https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/american-rug-craftsmen-wendall/Blue/1259063350101-P.html _________________________________ ________________________________ https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-obscure-rosette/Ivory/200KHMC35A-P.html...See MoreHelp furnishing problematic family room
Comments (10)My sofa is at a side angle to the TV. The TV screen is huge, I can watch it comfortably from several angles in the room so I wouldn't obsess over the idea that the only good viewing spot for the TV is directly across. Plus you can get braces that move to angle it. The biggest ironic issue for hubs and I is that we both want to lay down in the family room and watch TV, often together. We'd love to be able to afford an L shaped sectional with one of those big stuffed ottomans. We have a futon in the family room but it looks bad pulled out into a bed, it makes us look lazy or something . . . :) Are you getting new furniture? In the meantime, move some chairs around and see what kind of arrangement floats your boat . . ....See MoreNeed Help Furnishing Family Room - Does my idea work?
Comments (38)"'Which one do you like best?" Honestly, I like the single 5 seater with the two swivel chairs the most because it is open and easy to access. You can always pull chairs in from the dining room table if you need more seating for folks. But the single couch with the two chairs is really nice, balanced and all you will need for your daily use. I do like the couch with the chaise as well for daily use but then I like being able to put my feet up or even recline in the evening while watching TV....See Moreanele_gw
