Scallops?

How do you cook bacon wrapped scallops? I usually just pan fry the scallops with a little pepper and lemon juice, but DH wanted them wrapped in bacon tonight. I didn't do too good of a job. They tasted ok, but the scallops cooked faster than the bacon. I tried soft cooking the bacon, then wrapping them, but I can't soft cook bacon in the skillet. Help! I grew up eating only yellow perch from Lake Erie, or bass from the river, not sea food, so I have to learn how to cook all over again. And there isn't much seafood that I like, either. Lobster and scallops are about it. DH like shrimp, too. In fact, he will eat almost anything.

Basically I am not sure how it is possible to cook scallops and bacon together well. While taste-wise they compliment each other well, but cooking temperature are drastically different.

So What I have done is to cook then separate.

Form the bacon into rings about the size of scallops, and then bake the bacon to crispiness the way you like. Save the bacon juice and fat to fry the scallops. Stuff the scallops into the bacon rings.

Many times I also make bacon powder to sprinkle on the scallops.

I precook the bacon in then oven then wrap the scallops and bake.

I have a couple thoughts. First, I assume your pot has holes in the bottom. When you water, you must water until it comes out the holes, then not again until it's dry. No sips of water. Also, if your root ball was really small, that pot might be too big, leaving too much potting mix staying too wet. But the real problem could be your potting mix. It looks like it holds too much water. If possible, repot again (sorry) using a combination of commercial cactus & succulent mix combined 50/50 with perlite from your nursery. (Rinse the perlite through a strainer to get out the small bits. Don't breathe it.) These are such pretty plants, aren't they? Hope you can help it.

Can you examine the fruits to see if they were added, or if they are growing from the plant, and maybe take a closer picture of the fruits, and cut one open to see what the inside looks like?

I partially cook the bacon in the microwave or the oven, then wrap the scallops. I've done them in the oven, but like them best grilled.

You need thinly cut bacon and a very hot grill. Wrap the scollops with half a slice of bacon, thread them onto skewers and grill.

Tami ohio, I made these yesterday and they are wonderful! My son couldn't stop talking about how good they were. I used sea scallops cut in half and thin bacon cut in half. They took a bit longer to cook, maybe 7 mins. on each side. I didn't make the sauce because I didn't think they needed it. Soooo good and soooo easy!

Thanks! Now I have to find the book for my stove and figure out how to broil. I haven't broiled in over 30 years!

I sprinkle brown sugar over them too. It carmelizes and is delicious!

You can also parboil the bacon and then wrap around the scallops. The bacon stays supple that way. Works best with big sea scallops. Ditto the maple syrup drizzle.
