Yes it does look like the asian ones but I was buying the ones Labled pickling, fruit size 6". Darn it I wanted some normal sized one this year. Defiantly not burpless I just pick them young. It take about a week in this hot weather to grow form about 2" to the 15" or so inches I like to pick them before they fatten up to big. No I only use the orgainic stuff pluss the frist year here I was pregnant and could not be in the heat more than a few min so I am sorry to say every thing was a bit sad except the crazy cucumbers. We are miltary so I have grown them before and they were what you expect. Last year I was so sure I got sold the wrong kind I went with a friend and grilled one of the owners that we were getting what we wanted. You can see the link below it did not matter. Now I can believe that something I bought was miss Labled one year but this my 3 time from 3 different places reading the labels each time. I think I will let one go and get some seeds and see what baby's these monsters produces. Also thought about taking some of the soil and dumping it on one of the neigbor down the block who has normal ones and see what happens (: after all he said I should just pick them earlier but I really don't feel like eating so skinny. just forget about the interior brown ... in a few week put on a leather glove.. and just knock it all off ... snip off some dead branches ... if there is no green on a branch ... odds are.. its not going to rebud ... they will fill in fast enough.. if you perfect water ... your focus should be entirely on the new growth ... if that survives ... you are probably all set ... amazing how that one finger in the soil ... told you probably everything you needed to know ... it also looks like you might have some transport damage ... all that hoiking around.. by all the players ... and for the future ... think about how this would have all gone.. if you had gone half the size ... half the stress ... half less money .. and odds are.. after all these have gone thru ... the smaller would have outgrown the larger ... and if you want to replace some.. go half size ... ken

Hi Andre! Welcome to the group!! it is very special to finally see your first bloom and feel the excitement of growing this in your own garden! Be careful of some of those videos on utube from certain " specialist!!" Some of those do not give the correct information and might steer you in the wrong direction! Just an FYI for you being new. If you need any advise.. the regulars here are very knowledgeable and we all don't mind answering questions! Again, welcome!! Hi Brennan... i usually don't trade or take cuttings unless there is a specific reason to cut, but I do like to help or give out when I have some from breaks or storms knocking them over. Thank you for you interest in my collection. I do have quite a few varieties and I do have a few that are rooting now ( cuttings) Once they have rooted, I'll post here for you and I'll give you one that you don't have in your collection. Many years ago I would cut just to share with friends and I wasn't watching how the overall shape of the tree would be. Now, I'm more sensitive about cutting and trying to have a better balanced/ shaped tree. Have a great day!! Laura

K.. To funny about the " Marketing 101". It's true!! I have heard that George H is doing a great job with grafting as well! There is another George S down in Texas that receives shipments of grafted trees from Thailand. I believe he still has a few, but again.. they will come down in price next year. Dupefl.. I thin you might see some rooting these in a few years when they mature. Most of the trees around are pretty small and this cultivar is so beautiful and in short supply, they tend to graft to get those single tips out.. " 101". You might find that it's possible . Just like George Brown aka Musk Rainbow. Everyone says to graft, but I have rooted several and never had any problems. The hardest cultivar to root, in my opinion is Kapalua. I finally rooted one after several attempts. Friends have tried as well with only a few that were successful. This is why Kapalua is often mentioned Along with " grafting". Andre.. lol.
