dishwasher drain hose to airgap question
Comments (0)We just installed a new DW and the drain hose from DW to airgap is longer than we need but we're not supposed to cut it so...how do we loop it and where? The DW is on the left of sink and the hose goes from bottom of DW thru cabinet(at the bottom)and up towards the airgap on the right of sink. Should the loop be at floor level or as high as we can get it under the sink? AND should the loop go in a counterclockwise or clockwise direction? (If you can visualize it, clockwise has the loop down and counterclockwise has the loop up) I'm worried that water will sit in the drain hose if it isn't looped correctly and eventually cause problems ie mold, odor, or whatever. Thanks for any advice...See MoreProblems w/Bosch 800 dishwasher - should the hose be looped?
Comments (14)Thanks @whirlpooltrainee & @nerdyshopper. I made an appointment with a tech from a Bosch-affiliated shop coming by at the end of this week. In the meantime, I had my regular repair guy (who'd cleared the problem last time) and he said it should have been high-looped (which is what the installation manual says as well). So he made that fix and reset the machine so that it works. But he also indicated that there was water collecting at the bottom of the tub and that he thought the control panel was wonky. I'm keeping the Bosch warranty appointment for this week to make sure that I get it fully checked by an expert....See MoreAC condensate and washer drain hose in same drain hole?
Comments (10)Funny, in our old house the AC condensate ran to the sump. But here it seems to run to a drain in the floor, that leads to the pipe everything else drains to (I know, because it backed up once...)...See MoreMiele dishwasher drain hose problem?
Comments (11)ILoveRed, one of the strange things is that Miele does have repair staff in my city, and they have installers on contract. Coordination and oversight of their services seem to be what is missing in my ongoing (and frustrating!) experience. It is a shame because I do like the dishwasher itself. gspark, I think the black hose may have been from the previous dishwasher and the Miele installers reused it instead of changing it? Or the installers took a short cut and used the black hose for some reason? I really don’t know. If I had had any idea that what should have been a routine task would turn out to be an ordeal I would have taken “before” pictures. I sure hope that the pipe doesn’t have to be replaced because I just had the plumber replace the piping. Miele repair said there was a crack at the drainage connection meaning I had to get a plumber to replace the piping before I could use the dishwasher again. How and when this crack happened I don’t know (during the installation? the blockage repair when the hose was disconnected from the pipe? other?). It seems to me that when we pay for the expensive Miele product and installation service they should ensure that the appropriate fittings and hoses are supplied and properly installed so that the machine functions properly. And consumers should be advised of any special additional requirements in advance. The cost of the Miele installation service was considerably more than the going rate. I do not understand why a longer right-sized hose was not supplied and looped in a better location, as they are supposed to be the “experts”. At minimum the installers should have pointed out these deficiencies so steps could be taken to rectify them before problems developed as a result. I was nearby the whole time during the installation and they said all was fine. I am continuing to pursue Miele about the hose/installation problem.... I don’t want to deal with another expensive, time-wasting avoidable blockage. Thank you all for your insights and support, and letting me vent....See Morecberhomengarden
