I really like how the first sample goes with your floors. However, it's my understanding (based on reading/research over the years not personal experience)that honing softens the intensity of the colors. That might wash that slab out too much. Again, I've also read that the darker marbles how etching much more. So... I'm voting Mascarello. Especially love the bottom portion of the slab.

To me, it seems like a question of how much of a statement you want the granite to make. The Delicatus and Mascarello are certain to be attention grabbers, whereas the other two choices are much quieter. Are you looking for a backsplash at the same time? It helped me to look at all the pieces together. My personal vote goes to the first choice, the Golden Macauba. It is gorgeous, and blends perfectly with your floor. Colors are difficult to tell in photos, but it looks like all the choices except the Mascarello have reddish tones, as does the floor, which might put the Mascarello at the bottom of the list for me.

If you haven't fallen head over heals in love with any of these granites, I would suggest that you keep looking. There are so many to choose from and so far both times that we've bought granite, it's been our experience that the "right" piece will speak to you.

I have a preference to granite in kitchens over marble or quartzite - although I LOVE that particular marble. It's very classy looking. Do you have an island and if so, do you want it to have a contrasting granite? The Delicatus Gold is my preference from your four samples. It plays nicely off your cabinet color. The Mascarello is a bit too strong and may seem too busy on all the surfaces. Now if it were just on the island and the perimeter was a solid or quieter completmentary granite, then that's another story.

remodelfla: The Golden Macauba does pick up the golden yellow/orange in the center of the tile and I guess we could do it polished if we wanted to keep the color intensity.
chiponga: We are looking at backsplash choices as well but are pretty flexible- if we go with one of the busier choices we will do a very simple tile in the same color as the cabs, I think. With the Golden Macauba, we might also do that but with a bit more texture- I think it gives us a lot of choices for backsplash. I personally don't love the Emperador- I think it looks great with the cabinets but not so much with the floors. The taupey/grey is in a really different color family than the tile. The Mascarello does have some of the orangy/rust color in our tile in it- I'll post another pic close-up.

My vote is for the sienna or the delicatus. It appears from what I'm seeing on my monitor that either would go with your cabinets and floor tile. Good luck!!

sleevepresto: The kitchen does have an island, a very long one in fact. It is 12.5 ft long. The stretch of counter/base cabs directly opposite is about 14 ft long. On the other side of the island is where people sit to eat and a walkway. I tried to post a link to my plan but am having trouble. Anyway...the range is on the island. The island and the main counter opposite it were too similar in length, I thought to do a contrasting countertop. So we're doing the same material everywhere. I really like the Delicatus Gold as well but wish it had a bit more of the rust/orange/reddish tones in it. It mostly is located in one corner of the slab.

I have personally had had your flooring and loved it, the color brings a nice warmth to any home. However, they can take over and dominate as well. I somewhat counteracted that as I had many works of hanging art...and years ago eggplant walls here and there as well as golden yellow. Another thought is to look at some mid gray shades without a lot of movement for countertops with maybe small barely noticeable streaks of floor color or none at all, thatÂs what I did and with that you will have more options on paint colors and decorating. If you have a dominate floor and a dominate countertop maybe some of the other lovely things in your home will be overlooked.

I love the Sienna. Somehow, for me, less (in this case movement) is more! Good luck, Petra

Thank you all so much for your opinions and input. I have thought about going with a more neutral grey tone but there is so much grey in the room already with the slate fireplace in the family room (which is completely open to the kitchen) that I want something that has a bit more warmth without making me feel crazy with the competition between the floor and the countertops. The input is so helpful. Maybe I'll look again at some of the greys to see if there is one that is light enough and has some warmth/floor color in it.

Heather, your kitchen is going to look beautiful with any of the choices you have picked ...hope I didnÂt come across rude. There are so many ways to add color and the skyÂs the limit when you have a vibrant floor, you can get away with very bold or light paint, add copper, or some favorite color including a little floor shade in your backsplash or mix counters up with a nice wood island, so many ways to go. I wish you all my best in your search.

I like the Sienna Quartzite, especially with your floors. I have Juparana Delicatus which is basically the same but a little more of the light color and a little less of the dark. My floors are very light beige.

Ccoombs also has asimilar Delicatus in her kitchen.

I forgot to fix a sentence.. My granite is similar to the slab of Delicatus you have pictures of (not the quartzite)

I vote for the Sienna Quartzite, but must admit that those granites are quite striking too (but a bit too much for me). I suspect you can't go wrong, but from what I can see I'd lean to the quartzite.

jterrilynn: You didn't come across as rude at all!! I really value everyone's feedback and I've changed my mind so many times about this that I thought hearing some other feedback would be helpful- and it has been.
daki: your kitchen is beautiful and I really like the look of the delicatus. Am going in the a.m to look again at it. Hopefully will have an epiphany and choice will be evident to both DH and I! :)

I went today and looked at the golden Macauba slabs (not part of the same lot) and they're really different than the ones that I loved- more green undertones with a strong vein/line running diagonally across the slab that we couldn't figure out a way to work with. So we have 2 slabs of the Delicatus Gold on hold (same as pictured above) and our fabricator is looking to see if he can find any more of the Macauba. If he can't, I'm trying to look at this as divine intervention and not be too disappointed (even though I spent all day Saturday moping).
