Adopting another cat to go with our female cat??

Howdy. Wife and I are thinking of adopting another Siberian cat from our breeder. Before one states, to rescue a cat from an organization, my wife has severe, asthama like reactions to "normal" cats, thus the reason for a Siberian. Our Bella (siberian) just turned 1 yr old and yes a female. Would it be best to adopt another female, or get a male. I have always had cats growing up and have found the males to be more laid back and loving, which we would prefer, BUT, we want a good bonding between the two cats. Not as if it matters, but the mother/father are the same as Bella's. So should one base their decision on sex, or wait till we see the kittens in person and make the decsion based on personality and spunk!! Thanks, Scott
