double sink, but one keeps clogged

We have double sinks. My sink has never had any problem, while my husband's often is clogged. I use Draino every time when it is clogged seriously, but it only helps a little. What's wrong with his sink? He only washes his face and brushes his teeth with that sink. If there is problem in the plumbing system, why is only his sink affected? How do I fix this clogging problem? Thanks

Probably a combo of hair and goop in the drain. Get underneath and remove the P-trap - you'll likely find the stuff away.

BTW, you might first try feeding a "zip-it" hair catcher directly down the drain (to snag and remove the stuff). Cost a couple bucks at the hardware store.

I use a 12" plunger every month or two, hair from shaving along with the soap settles in the trap. I don't like to use Draino, if you have to take anything apart you can burn from the residue left on the pipes.

Is either sink allowed to fill up and then drained?

Pulling off the traps and snaking didn't help? I can see a P-trap leak being caused by snaking, it could certainly jar a fitting just enough. Do other fixtures in the room as well as your other rooms drain well? Any gurgling when you flush the toilet, or if you flush a toilet in another room does the water in the bowl of this toilet shimmer at all? Properly vented? All too often I'll see someone stuff a rag or wad up a bit of insulation to plug a drain stub-out during construction instead of using a proper plug. Several times they've disappeared...down the drain. Oops. Do these sinks have grates over the drain hole? Those can sometimes cause a little vacuum action as water leaves the bowl and that little vacuum can prevent proper draining. Do they have pop-up drain stoppers? Those can sometimes interfere as well. But not usually. Do the sinks have an overflow hole? Sorry for all the Q's. But 75 weeks? Wow.

is it both the hot and cold or just one of them? could be a clog in the faucet itself. remove the aerator and run it for a with both taps minute wide open. if this doe snot help it, you may need to remove/disassemble the faucet to clear it. could be crud built up inthe shutoffs too. try to close then open them a coupel times to see if they go back to working. i usually leave the tap running with the aerator off when i have had to do this at our old house.

Hi, OP here. Thanks for the replies. The seller/rehab company is seemingly being very responsive, and there's been no need for me to be threatening. I believe all municipal inspections were passed. But, that doesn't mean the plumbing contractor they used wasn't an idiot. They are going to try to address these problems, but I want as much knowledge on the subjects as I can get so that i'm not snowed and ask the right questions. They've said they will rip and up and replace so much of the shower floor as is needed to get the slope right (though I think 2 drains probably should have been installed). As for the clogs, the GC who the seller/rehab co. had used refuses have his plumber look at it, so the seller/rehab co. is going to bring in another plumber at his expense. Of course, I'm still tempted to bring in my own plumber to second guess what they say.

I think I would have to see a lighting plan (i.e. placement of the ceiling fixtures, etc.) to really give an opinion if two were too much. But by just looking at your windows, they are wide, almost square shaped. With that width I think the the two pendants would be my preference. The other question is do you need the two lights for more light - versus one. My motto on the kitchen is more light is better, especially if you don't get a lot of natural light (I have north facing windows.) You can always spend a few extra dollars and get dimmers on some of the lights if you think you have too much (but can't do much if you have too little.) Someone once recommend hanging balloons to mock up the lights to see if you liked it in your kitchen, keeping in mind that lights that are opaque will probably be less visually impacting than the balloons. But I found the balloons very helpful in decide size/scale/location. Good luck.

Yes, both are allowed to fill up and then drained, but the one my husband is using is draining slowly. To be honest with you, he does not have facial hair or anything, so he never shaves. That's why I don't know why the sink can be clogged

Obviously, there's something in there. Suspect if you run a snake down there one time that's all it will take. A little messy and annoying, but suspect single effort will solve the problem.

Not too bad. Last one I purchased was about $20.00 at local hardward store as I recall. I also use it to clean out my dryer vent from time to time before attaching leaf-blower.
