Hmm....maybe you could melt them and add dark semi sweet chocolate and they would be OK for a topping for something like toffee or brownies?
One of my grandsons prefers milk chocolate....must be a guy thing.

My DH loves Chocolate Chip cookies IF I use milk chocalate chips, otherwise....not so much. I think a lot of men favor a lighter chocolate.

I have a customer that will only buy my fudge if made with milk chocolate (the sweetened condensed milk recipe). Personally I like the mix of bittersweet and semi-sweet chocolate for mine. To each his own.

I have made chocolate chip cookies with milk chocolate but put extra walnuts in it because it is not chocolate-y enough for my buds.

Using milk chocolate for blondies' topping is really good though, since the blondies have their own rich butter flavor and the other chocolates would over power that.

Sometimes it is broccoli rabe, leeks, Stilton, peppered ham, wasabe peas, or hot chocolate mix, or other stuff, not normal things I'd put on a list. Interesting, and rather fun. So, don't be too down on him. Laugh about it with him or he'll NEVER go shopping again,'cause he, purposely or not, "did it wrong". You know that is why a lot of men don't do laundry? They don't WANT to know how and do it wrong to prove they can't.

Nancy, what you said reminds me of a story my DH told me. When he was in the Army, he was given coffee duty. He hated having to do it, so every day he'd just pour water into the pot without replacing the old grounds. It didn't take long for the rest of the office to decide his coffee was the worst coffee they'd ever had, and he wasn't allowed to make coffee ever again! Luckily, he's matured since then.

Where as I much prefer dark chocolate, there's probably something you can do with the milk chocolate chips. I bet there's a recipe on the bag. Or, you could make some kind of chocolate covered nuts, or pretzels or something that would go with milk chocolate.

Nancy, I agree, absolutely. Elery doesn't do things wrong so he doesn't have to do them again, but Ashley does! It doesn't work well for her, though, LOL, because I've caught on.

OK, milk chocolate chips. You COULD eat them if you like milk chocolate, I prefer the dark stuff. They make a passable topping for those peanut butter rice krispie bars and you would make frosting/topping/filling by adding some peppermint flavoring and using it to sandwich cookies or something.

Or, if you have kids or grandkids, them THEM eat them.

Actually, my family likes peanut butter cookies topped with chocolate kisses, which are milk chocolate, so I'd probably just add them to a batch of peanut butter cookies.

I already figured grandson can have them. As for sending DH to the grocery store I should know better. Years ago I made a complete list. On the list was 5 lbs Chicken, next line down was liver.
In no way would I eat a chicken liver let alone 5 lbs of them.

Another with a shopping challenged DH. I've given up sending him for anything other than milk and coffee.

It isn't so much that he gets the wrong "thing", he just gets the wrong thing of the right thing. He shops price not brand.

His other trick is bringing home everything except what I asked for! But I have to say I do no better in Home Depot.

I have some sympathy for him in the choc. chip aisle. There are now so many kinds of "chips" to sort thru. And the bags tend to look very much the same. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if companies did this on purpose to get you to buy more to cover your accidents. Even I accidentally bought MINI semi sweet choc. chips this time. Hopefully they will be OK in my CC cookies.

Frankly I would just return/exchange them for what I wanted. One day or two in the life of milk chocolate chips will not harm them. Let someone who wants them spend the money on them. I return stuff to the grocery store all the time, shelf space is at too much of a premium for me in my kitchen to waste space with something I don't want and can't use because I bought it by mistake. If it's not perishable, return. No harm, no foul.

My husband got out of bbq'ing because he kept letting our food catch on fire. So rather than him ruin dinners anymore, I just do it while he sits on the couch with his hands crossed behind his head, watching tv. Grrrrrrr
