I vote for one on each window. It will help frame the room.

Personally I think it looks very pretty without any panels at all.

I like the idea of panels, I don't think it will look crowded but try it out and see if you like it. I think you should forgo the grommet top though. It's a contemporary look that's going to look odd with the more traditional elements of the room.

... or it will give them an updated zing.

Can you pull your bed out from the wall a bit? I have the same set up in my bedroom and am in the process of looking at curtain panels. Thinking about fully lined faux raw silk. I am planning on hanging both panels, with having the inside panels behind the bed post, while the outside panels will go all the way to the corners of the room. This will not only make the windows look wider, but the panels will also frame the vertical painting that I have over the bed, not to mention softening the bed post.

Having two panels on each window will look richer and fuller. Grommet style tends to have deep folds taking up much of the material. One panel will look skimpy.

You will want to open them occasionally right?

The grommet style makes them seem more Contemporary but they look rather heavy and may make the room seem smaller. I remember you saying you were looking for an "island feel" for the room. Using grommet sheers might be the better choice then. You have blinds on the windows so privacy is not an issue using sheers.

I agree that a more traditional panel would work much better in this beautiful room. A pinch pleat would be perfect! I believe you said in the other thread that you were going for a sort of Carribbean feel. I think the blinds do much to help that. I don't see adding white curtains as bringing anything new to enhance the space, particularly since your space around the bed and windows is rather close.

What strikes me about the space (besides how pretty it is!) is that the windows seem low in the room. I would rather see valances hung above the windows, starting just a couple of inches below the ceiling, to bring height and make the windows seem more substantial vertically.

Are there valances available that match your bedding? You could do grommet valances instead, tho I am not crazy about that look with the feeling you have created in the room. Or, you could add a deep decorative moulding crown above each window, painted the trim color, or build out wooden cornices and paint them the trim color (my first choice, I think)

I think Les is definitely onto a great idea. What I would do is also then add a pair of the curtains you posted with the valances. I would put them right below the crown molding. As close as possible.... it will give the room height.

As les917 and aktillery mentioned, something seems off with the window height. However, I think the window height is normal. It's the higher sleigh bed headboard and the large painting on the wall that are throwing proportions off. You will definitely need to hang your curtains higher up. That's what I plan to do.

I'm not sure the solid white panels will add much to it. I'm with Les that it would be great to match your bedding -- I love the fabric on those 2 small pillows. If you can't get window treatments in that pattern maybe you can get sheets and fashion those into a gathered valance or swag. (If you refashion them in some way I don't think it will look like you just hung up 2 sheets.)

Do you sew or have a friend who sews? Even if you barely sew, making something like this is pretty easy: it is basically a rectangle with a rod pocket, then add 2 wide ribbons or tassels to create some folds. Hang the rods high as suggested above, and I think this would look really pretty in that fabric from the pillows.

Thanks for all the great responses. I actually can get the fabric from Calico Corners, thanks to a GWer's tip. I have added a large palm in one corner opposite the bed, and as I have ordered the curtains, I will check the color when they get here and then make a decision. I cannot sew at all, other than buttons so that would be a problem.Plus DH really isn't a fan of the fabric in the pillows. I happen to love it but . . .

I never noticed it before but the windows are not as tall as the doorways. Strange. But I would definitely hang any window treatments as high as possible.

I'm with Bobtheblind guy re: one panel at each window. That will frame your bed and appear to be too crowded. I think the key is to use a nice hold-back. We have 3 windows in our master bedroom, 2 of which are on either side of the bed, like yours. This is how I currently have it:
