No, when I went to school, way back when, there was no kindergarten at our school.

We didn't have Kindergarden yet, so I started school in the First Grade. My teacher's name was Miss Hess. I remember my best friend got in trouble (NO, it wasn't me!) for eating her black color crayon. Actually she snuck a chocolate cookie out of her lunch box, but she didn't admit it, because she thought that might be considdered worst then a crayon. (BTW I didn't get in trouble until 8th grade!) :o)

I have enough Irish blood in me to remember my Grandpa doing jigs around the dining room table. LOL My Great Grandma Paul on my Mom's maternal side was an Irish Kennedy, My Grandpa's Scottish clan was banished to Ireland for sheep poaching which is why his last name started with an McC instead of a MacC. You can tell we have a lot of "black Irish" (mix of Spanish and Irish) genes in our blood - well not mine but those of my Mom and her siblings and most of my siblings. They are lucky and have darker skin and dark hair while myself and my brother Donald were the fair haired, rosey cheeked children. My Mom and her siblings were born in Scotland. There is also Irish blood on both sides of my Dad's family. Although he and 2 of his siblings were born in Canada my Grandpa, Grandma and my Uncle were born in England. Anne

I would stash it and stare at it for a few days, but would probably go have a pedicure. My feet are really needing attention, and the older I get the further my feet get from my face....can't do a good job myself anymore. The rest I would keep in hiding for a special occasion. Trin

No, thank goodness. Maybe it helps that we have a sign over the door, with a picture of a .357 Magnum, which reads "Forget the dog...Beware of Owner"! Our neighbor has a sign, with a picture of a rifle, that reads "We don't call 911". The crime rate is low out here in the sticks.....

No, they didn't have it back in the middle ages, lol.

Growing up in Long Beach, Ca., we did have kindergarten and we could start school at age 5.

I don't recall the teacher's name, but I do remember being sad when Mama left me there. I also remember I'd broken my right arm about that time and felt so helpless with my little cast on.

Yes, her name was Mrs. Susie Janes, she was the best kindergarten teacher and taught for so many years, she is a legend in my home town.

Yes and the teacher's name was Mrs. Skelton. I hated every minute of it and my poor mother had to drag me every day--and it was only across the street. I was so shy. I probably flunked. My kindergarten picture's a jewel. First, mom had curled my hair with a Tonette permanent, so I probably had the first afro. It looks like I'm sort of smiling, but I was crying my eyes out. I must have been such a problem to my parents!

I know I was to Mrs. Skelton. In her retirement speech, she said she would never forget two students in particular. I was one of them. :-(

Yes...her name was Sister Marcelline, and she later was made principal of the elementary school.
I met her again every few years, last time at her Gold Anniversary as a catholic nun.

She was one of the nicest teachers I had through all my years of education.

No, we just started school at 6 years of age, with first grade.

We "oldies but goodies" had no Kgn. back when we were 5 year olds, but I do remember my first grade teacher's name. It was Miss Snow......very appropriate name for being in Ohio. LOL

I went to Kindergarden (at a country school where I went through 6th grade). My teacher was Mrs. Peterson. She was a sweet lady. My mom had known her for years. I remember once, a few years later, when we went to visit someone who lived several miles from us. I was told we were going to see the Peterson's and I thought it was going to be the same Mrs. Peterson. It wasn't, and I was sooo disappointed.

I went to kindergarten and my teacher's name was Mrs. Mooney.

No kindergarten in my little town. I have lots of memories from first grade though.

yes, I did. My teachers name was Mrs. Steckline. She was really nice.

I went to afternoon kindergarten in Mequon, WI. Oriole Lane Elementary School, maybe that's why I like birds so much? lol When I came home everyday, my 2 older brothers were on the same bus with me. Don't remember the teacher's name at all, but I remember we had a turtle in our class and we used to practice fire drills and when someone pushed me ahead of her in the line to the front of the line at the exit door, I got appointed "Fire Chief" for the class for the rest of the year. Woo Hoo. Oh, and I remember the 2 little songs that she taught us. "Little Ducky Dawdle" and "Ga-Ging Goes the Little Green Frog". lol

I started kindergarten when I was 4, almost 5. I don't have a clue to my teacher's name. I'm amazed at your memories.

    Yes! Ms Mable

Back, then, she would pick us up, take us to her home for kindergarten,, and return us.

Yes, I went to Kindergarten. Our teacher's name was Little Miss White, so called because she was a small woman and there was another teacher at our school, also called Miss White, who was a larger, taller woman. At the end of term, the principal, Miss Millard, would come to give the "report cards". She would stand on a small chair and say a girl's name (it was an all-girls school) and then would comment, "excellent", "very good", "good", "fair", "satisfactory", or "unsatisfactory". Unsatisfactory was a failing mark, so at our school we really could fail kindergarten!

yes, vine street elementary (of the hollywood and vine fame) but no, don't remember her name...

Yes, I remember Mrs. Minor very well. She was an older lady and I thought she was very kind. We had desks that seated two of us at a time. My seat mate was always crying because he missed his mother. I was very shy, but I didn't understand him. I couldn't figure out why he couldn't accept that we were there for the afternoon and then would go home. He went on to be a drug using criminal- but all I pictured when I saw him was a crying boy with a grape juice stained mustache waiting for his mother.

Anyway, I have many vivid memories of kindergarden. I loved school so much.

Yes. It was half day then; my own kids have all gone full day. I don't remember the teacher's name for sure. I think it was something close to Patrossis. I started in Wooster, Ohio, then moved halfway through the year to Zanesville, Ohio. I don't remember which school Mrs. P was in, that's just the only name that comes back to me. I do remember other things about kindergarten, like having big, blow up letter shapes in the room, as big as me. The consonants were all male, the vowels all female. That *always* bothered me, even when I couldn't put it into words. Why did they do that??!! Outnumber the girls 21 to 5? (And what does that make Y, anyway?) I used to remember all my teachers' names. Now I forget the early ones. The corner of my brain that used to store that has been reassigned to the names of my kids' teachers, I guess. And I've already forgotten some of them!

I have always been bad with names. I forget names of people I met yesterday, much less 30 years ago!

Yes, but don't remember the teacher's name
I remember the name of one teacher I think from 5th grade and that is it. Can't remember high school teacher's names either. When I look at my Class year books they arel listed in there but haven't looked in a long time

Yes, I went. I don't quite remember my teacher's name but it was something like Mrs. Ravishing.. hehe
I do however, remember what I wore on the first day of school. A lime green and white "tent" dress and black patent leather shoes. :)

I remember Kindergarten like it was yesterday! LOL I went to Princess Anne School just a couple of blocks away and I walked to school if not with my siblings with my friend Marilyn who is the little blond girl in the first row and who doesn't have her legs crossed. LOL My good friend Dave is the tall kid behind her with the dark shirt on. We play a few games together on Facebook and meet for coffee. Two of the girls have sinced passed away.

I used to think the school was named after me LOL "Princess Anne" That is what my oldest brother used to tell me. Princess Anne School was torn down in February to make way for the new David Suzuki School which will be the greenest and most environment friendly school in Canada.

My teachers name was Mrs. Steeves and she was really nice.

LOL I just had a better look at the picture and that tall boy isn't Dave. Dave was in the other K class but he was in most of my other grades with me.

I am in the bottom row 2nd from the left near near the teacher.

Dave and I went to the school before it was torn down and we checked out the Kindergarten class and everything was so small. I remember being so scared to go into the bathroom in the class at the time because the toilets were big and had black seats on them. They are so tiny now. I used to love when we had our naps on the floor. The coat hooks were in the same spot near the side door of the class.

I remember after the nap it was milk and cookie break time and the cookies were passed around in colourful plastic baskets like we used to get french fries in. The cookies had hard icing on them and were iced like toy play blocks and very colourful. I used to love those cookies and my Mom used to buy them for me. I remember calling them Romper Room cookies. LOLOL

Nope - Primer Class ... started at Easter, went to First Class in that fall. The Jr. and Sr. each of 2nd, 3rd & 4th ...

... for eight classes in all.

One-room rural school, less than half mile walk from home - Miss Jean Abbott, a nice lady, was the teacher throughout. Many rural schools scattered around the country - no school buses then.

Fast-learner senior kids helped the junior kids with their work - partly to keep them out of mischief, possibly?

How would you like to manage eight groups at the same time in one room?

When our children were in elementary school, they started this wonderful new concept - four classes in one room, separated by dividers, with a teacher for each.

I said that it smelled a lot similar to parts of the old one-room school, to me.

    ole joyful

P.S. Since the "definately" that I see around here so frequently is definitely not part of my vocabulary, is that the modern way of spelling ... with our way being sort of dinosaurish?
