kitchen advise (pics)

Hi Everyone,

I think I asked this question sometime ago and I'm still in limbo!

We have a fairly small kitchen so installed a mirror to visually enlargen the space. Not sure if it looks too 'heavy' though in this space and am debating painting it off-white/cream.

What are your thoughts? Leave as is or paint?

Secondly, I love large windows and lots of light...that is one beef I have with this space. I am seriously trying to persuade hubbie that perhaps we should go ahead and blow open the entire back wall.

I'd love to have garden doors centered on the back wall with 2 windows if required beside those. Have NO idea how much this would cost?? (I'm thinking $2000 anywats for the garden doors so maybe looking at @ $6000 for total job incl. masonry/ drywall etc) Has anyone does this and can provide an idea of what it cost?

Or-am I crazy and just leave it alone? I know we'd lose the fireplace that I loved when I bought the house-truth is that it never gets used in this room as it's just to warm!

Any feedback appreciated!

Thanks!
