Which color quartz for our kitchen? Opinions needed

We've settled on the fact that we want a quartz product for our countertops in the new kitchen - now the issue is that we cannot decide on the color!! UGH! I'm so tired of staring at those tiny little samples.

Some helpful details: The cabinets are painted white - shaker doors and slab front drawers. The flooring will be a linoleum product (color also TBD).

The colors that we're considering but can't seem to find photos of to get an idea of how they look as a large slab are:

Silestone Bianco River

Silestone Blanco Yukon

Zodiaq Bianco Carrara

Zodiaq Cloud White

All in the white family :) I'm leaning toward a greyish type floor color to help hide the dirt from dirty paws and tiny feet...

Any advice and/or photos MUCH appreciated and welcome!! I've been pondering this decision for months now and need to make a decision asap.

Hi there! It's hard to say without seeing large samples and the look you're going for, but what I'm seeing googling, I'd go for either the Silestone Bianco River or the Zodiaq Bianco Carerra. They both have pretty grey veining that will give you some contrast with your cabinets.

The Blanco Yukon is nice - I have Tigris Sand and it is darker but the same pattern. It might be a little too monotone if you have white cabinets, though.

I'm not a fan of the Zodiaq Cloud White; it's a little too speckly and unnatural looking to me, but that's just me.

OK, no pictures yet, but here is where we are at: 1) Installed beadboard (the wood stuff that comes in 6" (or so) tongue and groove strips. 2) It was a pain for our contractor to get it all laid in tight with no seams etc. Cost us more than I had hoped, but still worth it. 3) Painted with oil base primer 4) One coat of oil based topcoat in the same color as our cabinets. It looks very good - we think the verticals in the beadboard go nicely with the vertically fluted columns (which I didn't think would work so well at all). We had bought some Utilitech LED under cabinet lights from Lowes and we returned these as they were 1) not dimmable and 2) Kinda ugly. We are looking to purchase a different set of "softer light" dimmable LED lights so we will only have "landing strip" illumined countertops when DW really wants everything "lit up". Our hope is that with dimmable "soft white" under cabinet LEDs the white beadboard will give us what we want (not too bright, and predictable) until we have time to replace the Staron countertops with some sexy granite or soapstone and a different backsplash. I promise to post pics after the final coat of oil piant and after UC LEDs are in place! At this point we really think the beadboard looks nicer than we had hoped esp. for an interim solution.

None of the above. Especially the stained woods. The floor wants to be the star here, and the cabinet design with the wood mantle is wrestling with it for dominance in a clashing manner. If you want the mantle hood to be the star, you need the cabinets to be painted so that they eye doesn't view the fight between the wood tones and focuses on both the floor and the mantle. But, it doesn't necessarily have to be white painted cabinets to work in the space. I'd look at maybe a grey green, or a light sugar cookie tan, or even a soft blue. BTW, staining maple isn't for an amateur. It should have been done in a cabinet shop by a professional finisher, NEVER EVER on site. The cabinet maker shouldn't have installed unfinished cabinets. They should be finished and topcoated in a clean room offsite. He needs to come back and uninstall them and have them finished by a professional finisher who has the proper equipment to do so. You want the control against trash and debris that a finish room provides, as well as the durability of using the topcoats that can only be used in a finish room. You want a catalyzed varnish, preferably heat or UV cured. That cannot be done on site.

Just to throw you one more curve: I've had narual hardwood floor sin my kitchen for 20+ years with dogs and kids, who used to race their tricycles and chase the dogs around the house. The floors are still in pretty good shape although may need some refinishing at one point. We used what was called at the time "Pacific Strong", similar to today's Bona Commercial. Only drawback (advantage) is that one can't see the dirt on the floor.

I have a friend who did this floor in her house. I am a flooring person and had to bend down and look and touch to tell it was not real. Great stuff. I like #1 best. Contrasts the best with the cabinets and seems to blend best with the doors and trim. It might make the space seem lighter. As lots of wood can darken areas somewhat. #3 is second choice as I like it better with every thing BUT your cabinets. It's ok with cabs as it has some dark areas and is a 'louder' sample. But seems more contemporary. I actually like it the best of the samples by itself. Just not with your cabs as well. Do not like any of the others. Not enough contrast with the other woodwork especially cabinets. #5 looks the most dated and unreal. Others seem too dark. I would keep the doors wood stained as they are but paint the trim. It looks like it needs sprucing up and with all other finishes changed will look more like it needs it. I'm doing stained doors and painted trim in our new house but realize others may not care for the look. I do like the vinyl planks though.

It is hard to tell without photographs of your cabinets (there are so many different types of white) and/or links to the countertop choices. Sorry.

Yep tar heel. If you can, post pics of your cabs and the choices that appeal to you. It really depends on if you like contrast or a more monochromatic look.

Thanks, mom2reese! I've googled over and over and didn't come up with the pic you posted. Thank you.

I don't have a photo of the cabinets - we just started the demo process so they're on order. The color is painted "white white" - no creamy undertones.

Do you at least have a sample of the cabinets? A sample door? A sample "piece" showing what your wood & finish selections look like? If not, could you ask your KD or cabinetmaker to lend you one?

What we really need is to see a sample of as many elements of your kitchen together as possible:

Cabinet
Countertop
Flooring
Backsplash (IF you already know what you want...most people, though, pick the BS after they've installed their cabinets & countertops...you get a better "fit" that way)

I am actually considering a few of your choices for quartz countertops. I am considering the Zodiac (Okite) Bianco Carrara and the Silestone Bianco River. I know that if you call the Okite distributer in Texas they will send you a 12X12 sample of the Bianco Carrara. It is helpful to see a larger sample and you can always use it for a cutting board later!

I really, REALLY want marble but my husband is not going for it. He says that since I got to choose the cabinet color (black milkpaint...he wanted off white) that he gets to choose the countertop material. I am still not sure if he is bluffing or not!

If I do have to choose quartz I think I may go with the Okite. It seems to have a marble-esq appearence. At least through my tears and a few glasses of wine it might!

Please let me know what info you find and what you ultimately decide. Good Luck!!

I've seen the small samples of the Dupont Okite marble-ish counters. I'd be very curious to see them in a larger format, as small samples of most countertops, be it granite, quartz or laminate, are never inspiring!
