Down to the wire!

All the gift shopping is done, Christmas decorations have been up for awhile. No the tree we were waiting for the family to be together for that. Clive is responsible for gift wrapping...not started yet be he always comes through.

So now it's mostly about the food! Here is what I'm planning, more or less...usually more! LOL

Thursday Night...tree decorating Clive, Meredith, Chris, Amity and myself.

Tourtierre

Baked beans

Scalloped potatoes

Cole Slaw

Friday...dinner party for friends

Raclette in Fuff Pastry with a fig sauce

Beef Tenderloin with a port reduction

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Haircot verts

Dulce De Leche Cream Puffs With Frangelico And Hazelnuts

Saturday dinner party at a friends house. I only need to bring my homemade Cheese and Proscuitto Ravioli with fresh herb sauce...not sure about the rest

Sunday.....fasting

Christmas Eve full court press Prime Rib dinner, which of course includes Yorkshire pudding!

Christmas Day, Turkey, Ham, and all the usual suspects.

Boxing Day, turkey and stuffing sammies...that's what this is all about!

then it's a diet! LOL

Why do we do this to ourselves!

One more point, the Asko is 46 db and the Bosch is 42. Can you tell the difference? Noise will be an issue as the kitchen, dining and living are all open together and it's not overly hugh

Is the current light you have in your bathroom what you plan to use in your remodel? Here's what I noticed during my remodel. I changed from the existing incandescent light to LED with 3000K color and it really makes a big difference when looking at the color of the tiles. Regular incandescent is around 2700K color range and light will have a yellow cast to it. The higher the Kelvins the bluer the light. That might be why the Galvano charcoal tile seems brownish in your bathroom.

Thanks so much for the replies. For those interested this is a new construction so there's not much for photos. The kitchen will be L shaped with a 4x7.5' island. I'm not sure on my budget for the stone but I believe I can go up a bit in price if need be. Right now I'd say mid range is my price point. I appreciate the photos poohpup and the input gr8day and herbflavor. I was considering something leathered with not a lot of movement for the perimeter and maybe something wilder on the island. Any more pics that anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated.

I hesitate asking for help with color - it's SO very subjective and location specific but I'm stuck. We will have a single story house and large detached garage/workshop over 100 ft apart. House will be brick, garage will be traditional barn-like red with white doors/windows . Approaching from the road the house will be visible first, steep pitch and lots of roof visible. I'd like to use the same roof for both and my first choice is a dark gray but without either a blue or green cast and all the grays seem to have one or the other. The closest I've come across is Atlas Pristine Black which to me looks more gray than black. I'm hung up on the name because black sounds too dark - stupid I know. I was told there is only one supplier for the color granules used by every major shingle manufacturer and that's why they all look pretty much the same. Have I missed something that is a true dark neutral gray with no blue, no green, no brown?

OMG you're really pushing yourself Sharon....so much cooking!

I like your menu for Thursday evening....sounds like nice easy comfort food. But I'd have a breakdown attempting all the other things. Well okay, I do prepare a little buffet at home on Christmas Eve and will do a full turkey dinner next day but just for the three of us (Wolf and our houseguest.) Not sure what we'll do on Boxing Day....probably go out.

Take it easy and enjoy your holiday Sharon....I'm so impressed by all the food you'll be preparing!
