I can't vouch for upper cabs, but on lower cabs, (as depicted in
your link), bi-fold doors work just fine with L-shaped corner
cabs. I've had one for 22 years, and have never had a problem
with the hinges being stressed. That cabinet opens and closes
the same today as it did the day it was installed. There has
been no cosmetic or other damage.

The only way I can imagine you'd damage the hinges is if you
constantly leaned on the door, putting your weight on it. But
then, that would affect the hinges on any kind of door.

I have one with a DW right next to it. You have to be careful about opening it, which is easiest if you access the contents infrequently. I've had it only 6 months or so though.

But I've been surprised at how minor of an issue this has all turned out to be. I was nervous about it for the same reasons. But the hardware is superior (probably depends on brand; these are Blum) and I'm not a 7yo boy. If I kept a young son's sippy cups in there, it might be another story! ;)

We were told the same thing in our last house when I told the builder I wanted that style on the lowers & the uppers. Over 10 years we had absolutely no problem with those doors or hinges. Our cabs were custom made and when I say the cabinet doors were solid--I mean they were solid. We have looked at alot of cabinets with our new home build & have yet to find a cabinet or door as solid and heavy as those were. Now, maybe if you left them open all the time or you used them as leverage to get up from a squatting position in front of thecabinet I could see having problems with hinge stress, but under normal everyday use as they were meant to be used the answer would be no undue stress.

I've had both the diagonal door, and the hinged door. Much prefer the diagonal door. For one thing, you can have a full lazy susan, where in the hinged door, you can only have 3/4. Not a huge loss of storage, unless you have a very small kitchen. I also find the hinged door a PITA when I'm baking. I keep all my baking stuff on the susan (flour, sugars, oil, shortening, etc, etc) and I like to keep the door open while I'm baking. That darn door is always in the way, where as the diagonal door would lay flat against the other cabinet. Just a personal preference.

I'd say true to a certain extent if you're using Euro hinges. They have an adjuster that needs tweaking if they start to sag. Also, the screw holding the knob can scratch the neighboring cabinet if it is pushed to too enthusiastically (ask how I know...). If the screw is countersunk, it's not a problem. I like the overlapping look of the Euro version. You don't see hinge, just doors, butting. In my old kitchen, there were three on the lowers. They were in fine shape and nothing wrong with the hinges. They were '80's no-knobs doors.

Joyce-don't know why you think that you can only have a 3/4
susan with a hinged door. I have a full lazy susan with my
hinged door...Kraftmaid cabs, now 22 years old.

I will have another full lazy susan w/hinged door, in the kitchen
of our new build.
