I have the same problem with my doberman and especially the pspillon. I want to use my free horse manure and the pap puppy keeps dragging it in the house. I can imagine beagles are awful with their great noses! We hunt jackrabbits on horseback with a beagle pack (like traditional foxhunting) here in Phoenix. Awesome little dogs. We also have a hound pack in Flagstaff and visit a harrier pack in CA. Anyway, I've only found fencing, especially a low electric fence to be effective. My doberman I was able to use a shock collar on a low setting. I only did it once but she's very, very sensitive. I haven't done it with the papillon, mainly because the collar is too heavy but also because she's much harder head than the Doberman so that I think she would simply learn not to pick up horse poop when the collate is on. The Doberman learned "mommy doesn't like me to pick up horse poop and made my neck buzz" which would be the more desirable response. My experience with hunting dogs is they have tunnel vision so if the collar is not on it's not going to work. The Doberman and some other working breeds are much different than hunting/hound breeds. Less tunnel vision and prey focus, more please my mommy focus. I haven't had my papillon puppy long enough to figure her out, she seems more along the lines of a border collie or spaniel, highly OCD and focused, off the charts smart but pretty independent as well. Anyway, with beagles, your best option would be a 4-6 inch high electric fence which you can make using 1/2 inch PVC pipe for your pole, drill holes to run wire through, no worries about needing insulator for this. Add two long pieces of rebar pounded into the grounded 3-4 feet deep, 3-4 feet apart. These are your grounds. For your charges, if you have acess to electricity you can use a cheap 110 charger. If not, I would highly recommend a solar charger which works fantastically. Make sure your grounds are kept damp as dry ground won't do as well. I water the ground poles every week if it doesn't rain. This type of system is very effective and not ugly system

I might have mislead you all, I've been a member on the site since 2003, just don't get on and post for months at a time. Oh and I live in the town along the west side of Denver, just before Golden and the foothills. Snow on the peaks now. Theresa, my first diagnosis in the 90's was impingenent syndrome too. I didn't know then what that was or what could be done, but I wish I'd had surgery then, might have avoided this tear. Just cleaning up the bone is a much speedier recovery than waiting for tendon to heal from surgery. As for P.T., I go for my 3rd appt. today and not really looking forward to it. Ice pack's in the freezer! Also have choral rehearsal tonight in preparation for a Christmas concert (community choir) and director will have to plan for a music stand for me. I get to solo on Silent Night this year!

The situation may be too tense at this point, but could you ask the neighbor to call you with the plan to let them come inside your unit during a "stomping episode" to prove to them that sound travels and it's not coming from your unit? Ideally one of them could come upstairs and another could wait from within the unit. Or perhaps management could send one person to each unit and see how loud it really is (are expectations unreasonable?) and upstairs you will have a witness that normal movements are happening upstairs regardless of what they hear. If you have any travel plans, could you use this to your advantage to establish it as a fact that they are hearing noise from another unit? It's obvious they don't believe this. Anything for them to stop calling the police, because that is clearly not solving anything and is wasting city resources... what an awful wake-up call for you.

I worked for a rescue group for years and never used external sutures even once and no problems (spayed literally thousands of animals). But I learned years before at a regular practice not to use external sutures, particularly in dog neuters, as the pets never bothered the surgical site if there were no external sutures, but almost always did if they were there. Where I work now they like external sutures because they like to see the pets back to be sure all went well (internal sutures mean pets never have to return and sometimes you wonder if there were any problems or not, I guess). Still, all the vets here can close without external sutures if asked, or if the pet is particularly grumpy. I agree with being upset even though I understand some places policies... still, if they said they were going to do things one way, they should agree to stick to that. I don't really understand why they didn't. By the way, the glue used is usually only to make things look nice, not to keep the incision from flying apart... 95% of the time glue is not needed with only internal sutures, unless one was sloppy or the tissues were exceptionally tight. I use glue in many cases to neaten things up and I have to say I have never had any irritation (but then I don't put glue INSIDE the incision, just on the outside). I do use glue when closing rat and rabbit incisions as the primary closure method, but I sort of have to as these animals will chew any suture they get ahold of (same when I do primate surgeries). Rabbit and rat skin though is so thin that internal sutures are nearly impossible to place... but thankfully that super thin skin holds the glue very well and not had a problem with skin coming apart afterwards. Reptile skin, on the other hand, could not easily be closed without external sutures, so there are exceptions. Not sure why all vets don't use this method. I noticed that most surgical specialists prefer not to use external sutures, at least on their abdominal incisions (extremities are much harder to close without skin sutures).
