matching vanity paint to vanity top??

I have the cultured marble vanity tops in my upstairs bathrooms. They are 14 years old and were white when new, but have yellowed. I do not want to change them because we won't be here more than another few years and I already have more money in this house than I can get out.

I need to paint the vanities as well as all the trim upstairs. I wanted to go with a pretty white white like BM simply white or something similar.

Do you think it would look odd to have very white cupboards with those very creamy counters? The floors are white

When we redid the kids bath a number of years ago, we took out the cultured marble top and bought one of the ones that is a counter and sink in one. It wasn't that much and made such a difference. Once the kids are a little older I will replace it with one of the granite ones.

This is like what we have. Of course I am not sure the size of yours. Might be worth looking into?

I am about to have the same thing. My cultured vanities are creamy beige with whitish "veins." We recently upgraded the vanity and built-in cabinet with new doors and drawer fronts. Just a few minutes ago, I returned from the paint store with white paint for the vanity, storage cabinet and trim. I bought a creamy tan for the top half of the wall and will have matching wallcovering below with a white chair-rail between. Now I just have to roll up my sleeves and get to work!

Thanks. It sounds like the white veins in your counters will help pull it together with the white paint. My counters are just a solid white that has yellowed.
What color of white did you use?
Anyone else have an opinion on how this will look?

Usually there is an overhang on both sides if the cabinet is freestanding. If the cabinet is against a wall on one or both sides, there will not be an overhang there. I had this situation in an old house where one side didn't have an overhang. For a 24" cab, the top is usually 25", meaning a half of an inch overhang on each side. Hope this helps.

It doesn't look off in the photos but it's hard to see color nuances when no one uses flash photography anymore. Do the speckles in the quartz match the vanity color so there's at least that tie-in? What would you have chosen instead? A quartz with taupe undertones so your counter, cabinet, and floor is all the same boring tone? If it really bothers you, I'd think about updating the flooring to the more modern vibe of the vanity. The speckled quartzes need a busier, patterned floor tile. A tile with a little white to reference the counter would make the counter choice seem purposeful.

@Lauren E The wall tile/tub do match each other, I've attached more of close up pics. To me, they are a cream/almond/ beige. (maybe slightly pink?). t's currently painted a khaki color. The vanity top is slighly pinkish and the floors are travertine. The lighting is awful - no natural light.

Sometimes the differences in color are due to the diff in the actual materials - as in drywall to wood to tile or marble. Also the fact that one is horizontal and one is vertical, I think, without seeing the colors you are describing, would make it ok. I wouldnt think they need to match match, but maybe choose a slightly creamier white for the vanity paint.
Just a suggestion.
(I suppose you could always paint the vanity black)

I also have the same marble with oak cabs. I stained one (minwax gel stain) in mahogany and it really makes the marble pop. In the guest bath, I'll be painting it white. I'm sure it will look fine. I do have dark brown walls in there to make some contrast. I think you should stick to white because it you try a creamier color it will look like you tried to match and it didn't work. I would paint it the same color as all your trim and doors.

Thanks everyone.
I am going to paint all the trim and doors upstairs as well so I do plan to do it all the same color. I have 3 vanities to paint. Right now they are such a yellowed white and I hate it. I really wanted to go with a real white, but then worried that it might look funny with the creamy counters. I guess I'll go with the really white .Now if I can just find the right one.
It seems that they can't mix most of these whites in a quart so I can test them because they don't have enough pigment.
