My father died in '68, he was 64 years old. My mother died in
'97, she was 94. I am 61.

My dad died in 2004, my mom is still alive. Jerry's dad dies in 1991, and his mom in 2005.

Thus between us, we still have one mother.

I'm 63. My Mom is still alive and is 82. She's my partner in crime. LOL We do a lot together. My dad died in 1997 at age 73, from what I believe was damage done from a serious bout of e-coli in the summer 1995. I was called home from England, as he wasn't expected to live. Well, he did beat it, but he was never the healthy robust man he'd always been and died 11-02-97. But on a side note, he had an aneurysm, in the groin area that he was going to have surgery on. Before they'd do the surgery they did other test, like how well his heart functioned. We found it was only working to 20% of it capacity. I believe the e-coli damaged his heart, as he always had a good doctors report. We'll never know for sure. But I sure miss my Dad. I can't believe he's been gone 10 years already. But then I can't believe my DH been gone 9 years already, this coming July 4th either. And he was 52 when he died.

No, my mom died in 1976 at the age of 72 and dad died in 1994 at the age of 85. I am 68.

I'm 60. My mother is 83 and suffering from dementia; my father will be 86 next month, and in very good health (physically and mentally). They have been happily married for 62+ years.

My MIL died at age 81 in 2000; my FIL will be 92 in August, and has never been sick a day in his life.

My Dad died 22 years ago this July, he was only 60. He died on a Thurday morning and the next day I found out I was pregnant with our 2nd baby. My Mom died in my arms 10 years ago this August, she was 71. Not one single day goes by that I don't think of them and miss them. DH's Dad is 76 and his Mom is 70 and both are going strong. Everyone that still has a parent with them is so lucky. I'll be 48 in August.

My dad died at age 49 of a massive heart attack. I will never be able to erase from my mind the sound of his gasping for breath in the final moments of his life at 1:30am, June 3, 1958. I was a junior in high school.

My Mom passed away at age 92 on May 28, 2002, just 90 minutes after my siblings and I left her at a nursing home to which she had been admitted less than 24 hours earlier. She never recovered from emergency surgery for a hernia that she had on Mothers Day earlier that month.

My mom died on her 59th birthday in 1982, my dad died 14 months later on my sisters birthday.
My FIL died 5 yrs ago of prostate cancer and MIL died last August of colon cancer.
I am 61 and have been without parents for a very long time, and I miss them.
Most of all I miss my kids not having grandparents. My folks were wonderful to the kids, inlaws could have cared less. Sad too, because they ended up being the ones that were alive the longest.

My mom died at the age of 69 in 2004. My dad is still around, he's 78 years old and sent me this card and cartoon this week, I'm a nurse so he's always sending me these "nurse" cartoons, he thinks they're hilarious. LOL! He gets around pretty good, still does his own shopping and will sometimes go and pull weeds in the yard. About a year ago he bought himself a new PT Cruiser and I just can't see him driving it, he's had an old Ford truck forever. I live clear across the country so I still haven't seen it yet. I'm 45.

I am truly thankful to still have both of my parents. My mom is 74 and so is my dad. My mom has been going to the gym everyday for the past 15-20 years. She's my best friend. My dad is still going strong although he has had a lot of heart problems. I'm the baby and will be 44 next week. DH's parents have both passed away. His mother passed away shortly after we met and I've always been sad that I didn't get to know her because I think we would have really gotten along well.

My in laws are both gone, so is my Dad in 1998. Mom is still going at 84,she will be 85 next month. She is my best friend, the one person I call when I have news or need a shoulder to cry on.

My mother passed away in October of 1989 and my fil passed away in February of 1990.

I am stil lucky enough to have both my parents. Mom is 75. and dad is 86. I can see my dad slowing down quite a bit lately, and my mom has always had a lot of health issues, but she keeps plugging along.

My Mom and Dad have lived in a retirement home nearby the last few years. Mom had a stroke last summer just after we celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
She is very upbeat but between the stroke and some dementia, we have the same conversation every 10 minutes.

She will be 90 next month. My Dad turned 90 last year and has had macular degeneration for a number of years now. He's still as sharp as ever. I'm the middle of five kids and will be 57 next month.

3 of my brothers died in their 50's,all smokers and drinkers,one sister died in her mid 40's also a smoker and drinker.My oldest brother died at 73,and one other sister died at 68 at the hands of a DR.It shouldn't have happened,she went in for a simple breast biopsy and never came home,.Her DH sued and won ,not that that brought her back.

No, my Dad passed away in 1977 at the age of 41 with a massive heart attack
and my Mom passed away in 2000 just before her 61 birthday with breast and
lung cancer. Thank goodness she is finally with my Dad who she grieved for 23
years. And I miss them both everyday especially on holidays and when I need
someone to talk to besides DH and my own children. No siblings for myself or DH.

Yes, but I'm just one of the kids around KT. I am 37. My paternal parents are both 57 and more active than I am. LOL. My grandparents are 83; G-ma is mostly healthy but G-pa is not well, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. At this time they live in their own place, but I don't think G-pa can do that much longer. My maternal grandfather was killed in a car accident before I was born, grandma died unexpectedly in 89. I grew up knowing my great-grandparents, great grandma was alive when my DS #1 was born. So I hope those genes are in me!

I'm lucky though my friend Kathy's Dad called me his "adopted daughter" after my Dad died but sadly he died last year. My friend's Mom's have all "adopted" me and also some of the women I play cards with. They care for my well being. One couple from cards Jim and Norma- I call Mother and Father. Jim was tickled that when I started calling them that. Norma will call me and say "this is your Mother calling" when she leaves a message. I think it is sweet.

I wish I had gotten to know my Dad better. He was a strict father and I was scared to death of him. I was just starting to open up to him and getting to know the softer side of him just a few years before he died.

Yes, both of my parents are alive, in their 70s. I am 45. My mom is doing great and still goes to the gym. My dad walks just about every day. However, I've noticed lately that he seems a bit more forgetful.

My inlaws are also in their 70s and still alive, but they've had serious health issues. My FIL has had 3 heart bypasses in his life and recently had a defibulator implanted in his heart. However, he runs his own business and goes to work 4 days a week. He never sits still. My MIL was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and they got most of the cancer out but are watching a couple of spots.

Both of my husband's grandfathers died in their 60s and his grandmothers in their 90s.

My paternal grandfather died of lung cancer when I was only 9. The rest of my grandparents died in their 70s.

It will be hard for me when I lose my parents.

I am one of the lucky ones....my parents are doing great at almost 80 (mom) and 82 (dad). They will be married 62 years in November and are as happy as the day they got married. It is amazing. They have more energy than I do. My DH and I are taking them to Disney World in May, my younger sister and her family are coming too. I am willing to bet I will be tired walking before they will.

I will be 58 soon. My Mom died in May of 2002, 4 days shy of her 53rd wedding anniversary. She had Althsheimer's the last 5 or so years of her life. If theres a bright side to this terrible disease, and this is a stretch, is that it would have been harder on us all if she was 'with it' right to the end and then was gone. This way she gradually drifted away farther and farther until she wasn't there anymore. She was 86. My Dad was devastated by the loss and continues to be to this day. He kept writing 'from Mom Mom & Pop Pop' on the grandkid's birthday cards until we had to tell him to cut it out. He truly is lost without her. He had a stroke following heart surgery a year ago and now his short term memory is fading. He asked me what day it was 4 times yesterday. I just said 'Sunday' and nothing else all 4 times - no need to embarass him.

I should have mentioned that my FIL died around 8 years ago; a combination of high blood pressure and my MIL's nagging. She now does everything that she formerly nagged her late husband about - not wanting to bathe, not wanting to go to the doctor, etc. I've heard my SIL say to her 'You're doing everything Daddy did.' to her on more than one occasion.

I feel very fortunate that I have both my mom and dad, still married after 30 years. They are both 62 years old, exactly 30 years older than me! My mom loves belly dancing and walking her dogs. Dad runs 4 days a week. They aren't without some health problems, like high BP and cholesterol, but they're doing great. I'm really proud of my parents.

Both of my parents are alive. And well..I don't see my dad much at all..but...that's the way it is.
I lost my Dad's parents when I was growing up.. They both aided their untimely deaths with their bad habits!
My great grandmother on my dad's side was alive until her mid 90's. She got to meet and love on all three of my boys.
Both of my great grandmothers on my dad's side, outlived almost all of their children.

My dad passed away at age 78. My mother who was 8 years younger than dad, lived on alone in her own little house. She was an independent soul living past age 96 before taking a tumble on the concrete steps of her church and died 6 days later.
