How to clean dirty ring Inside colored toilet?
Comments (9)Dirt or scale? Most of the toilet cleaers are lye (castuc compounds). Frwater rings a mild acid (ditilled white vinegar) is far more effective. Buy a fwew gallons and fill the bowl. You may have to get a temporary plug to fill the bowl above the normal water line. The are an inflatable rubber ball. Just make it a little bit larger than the bowl exit and push it in hard enough it will stay (with the valve facing out so you can pull it back out). Add more whiten vinegar and wait. If you start seeing small bubbles at the ring the acid is doing its job of dissolving the water scale. There are stronger acids that work faster, but get more dangerous to use (just diluting them must be done correctly (acid into water) to avoid boiling and splatter)....See MoreToilet only flushes with hot water and soap!
Comments (6)Hi.. I have (somewhat) the same problem.. My toilet only flashes with dish soap. Without it, the water just swirls without the 'gulp'. The problem started when I poured water (with soap) that I used after hand-washing a piece of garment (with a bar soap). I guess the soap scum has clogged the toilet. To make things worse, while trying to fix the problem, I poured Drano Crystal both into the bowl and the overflow tube. Now, the toilet no longer flushes with a gallon (or so) of hot water. (Before putting Drano, it did.) It only flushes (100% of the time) if I poured dish soap before flushing. I've been doing this for about a month and now I'm tired of doing this every time I flush. If the toilet flushes (with dish soap), doesn't that mean the clog is gone? What do you suggest as my next step for fixing this? Thanks in advance!...See MoreEarthy/Dirty Smelling Water
Comments (3)Thanks for your reply, Mike. We are getting a new water heater very soon as we discovered it was 26+ years old (testement to the brand for lasting that long, I guess)! After having both the water heater and the well chlorinated, we're still experiencing the odor, but not as severe. I think it is because we didn't completely drain the water softener and heater (the location of both make it difficult to perform maintenance - limite space!) We plan on cleaning out the softener as soon as we're out of salt, and hopefully we'll see an improvement. Again, thank you taking the time to reply!...See Morehelp ! first fill and dirty well water ? please plese please help
Comments (8)tilleys26, Jack's magic will work well to keep the iron in solution. I would suggest that you use a filter aid in your sand filter. This will help the filter hold the fine particles that it is unable to catch. Don't worry about the chlorine until you get the water cleared up. Sand filters work fine once the water is clear. DE filters work much more quickly to clear the water. Go to a pool store and ask about a filter aid to add to your sand filter. Be patient and continue to filter 20+ hours a day until it is clear. Water trucks generally have iron tanks. You may have traded one iron source for another. As the water starts to clear you can start raising the alkalinity and calcium hardness. Good luck....See Morecoolvt
