The subject reminded me of a wrong number message my sister got last week on her answering machine. It was a guy telling his friends he was out in Palm Springs, beautiful weather, great golf etc (very lengthy). She got the call on Monday and the funny thing is she lives in Chicago and came out to see me in Palm Springs on Thurs. He could have called any wrong number but he called one for a person was going to the same area!!!!

Your story reminded me of a funny although annoying thing that happened here a couple of weeks ago.
One Saturday evening I had just gone to bed, it was about 11:30. I got a text message on my phone. Got up to check it in case it was an emergency with one of my tenants. All it said was "Hi, it's Jonas". I could see by the number it was my tenant, Jonas, but didn't think it was important so I went back to bed.
He texted me 4 times through the night! 'Course everytime I get a text my phone beeps to alert me, and as I am a caretaker I am tuned to wake up if my phone beeps in the night.
Anyway, the short of the long - I saw him a couple of days after and asked him why he was texting me all night. He was so embarrassed as he had mixed up my number with the number of a girl he is chasing....thankfully he didn't say anything graphic on his texts. We both had a pretty good laugh about it afterwards.

Well, I didn't do anything about it, if they would have kept it up I would have. We did have many, many years ago harassing phone calls in the middle of the night. It was aimed at our teenaged daughter. We had a recorder on our phone and taped what was said. It was legal at that time, if only one party being recorded knew it. I don't know how it is now. We got the police and the phone company involved. It was from a teenaged girl in another town, our daughter didn't even know and the girl was mad because our daughter saw her boyfriend once! This girl also had guy friends call and it ended up that we knew the things he was saying weren't true because he was saying things that she was doing at school. (Our daughter was home schooled and they didn't know it.) The girl had to write our daughter a letter of apology and I don't know what else the judge did with her. We won't mess around if someone starts calling and doing things like that. It is uncalled for.

I got a wrong number and a guy called me by another name. He said I know it's you "susie". I told him sir, you have the wrong number, this is a new house and a new number for me. We went through this for awhile and I finally said, she probably gave you a wrong number because she didn't want to give her real one. He finally said, I guess you are right. Poor guy. I also got a bill collector who didn't believe when I said I wasn't who he was looking for. I finally got his supervisor and stopped that call.

Speaking of wrong numbers. #3 daughter and her hubby bought a home a year before they married. Of course they got a phone. That has been about 7 years ago. Ever since then they have been getting calls for this one guy. Probably bill collectors. Most of the calls are recordings and you can't tell them what is what although there are a few that they did talk with them, but made no difference.

Well, one day when her husband was at the license branch waiting his turn, the people called out the name, Leon D----son and that was the name of the fellow they were getting all the calls for. Son in law talked to the man and told him about all the calls. Oh, he said probably his ex wife used that number. They had gotten a divorce and he moved to another state and now moved back! Small world but they still get calls. Annoying.

I had a pre-paid cell phone to have along when I was going somewhere in case of an emergency. It has rung only once in all the time I've had it and it was a wrong #. A nice lady in Florida. We chatted for a while about the weather in our states. Dottie

dotmom, sounds like me and my cell. The only calls I get are wrong numbers. At least I am not charged for them. I got a prepaid to see if I could do without my land line.

I could do without my landline, if I had something else rather than dial up for my computer. I would want to keep my cell phone.

Around Christmas I received quite a few voicemails from an elderly woman that I don't know. Actually, she left them for 'Joann' which is not my name. I have caller ID and could see her name & number. I just ignored them. But then I got about 4 calls in one day for 'Joann'. I heard them early in the morning before I was about to leave for work so I dialed her number. I thought I was being nice, because she was making a date to play cards with Joann and there was a ride involved.

Long story short, the callers Grumpy old husband answered. I explained that I received several calls from his number by mistake. Before I could relay the infomration Grumpy starts yelling at me for calling so early in the morning! Never mind what time of day or night THEY call me and I happen to be a full-time working parent! I didn't bother relaying the messages.
