a funny email I got....

A dog is truly a man's best friend.

If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.

Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for an hour.

When you open the trunk, which one is really happy to see you?

Hi mcpeg,

Sincerely, of you I wouldn't make sport ...
... but into your coffee mug, did you shoot a snort?

Saving trees/energy (plus frugality) makes air less foul:
salvage a rag from an old T-shirt, not a paper towel.

O.K.?

(And it ain't a crime
to make a rhyme).

I have a Netgear router and did not get this email. I had a big Netgear experience today when we switched from Spectrum to ATT for internet. One laptop recognized Netgear; the other laptop didn't and went on ATT. Both cell phones recognized Netgear. My chromecast won't work with either. And the crazy one is 2 of my 3 Kindle fires wouldn't recognize Netgear and went on ATT, but one is still on Netgear. Anyway, I'm mostly on Netgear and DIDN'T get this email!

As for the virus - the owner of a mail order nursery and a "serious" garden shop/turf supply/hydroponic supplier have both told me it their best year ever. More people stuck at home, and gardening is an activity that can be done 'socially distanced'. OTOH ours seems like an increasingly impatient culture - I don't really see 'generation tiktok' getting into hobbies like advanced horticulture. Sad about Song Sparrow though. Glad I got some great plants from them over the years. I didn't even know about Lazy SS Farms! The nursery business is tough, period, tougher if you're trying to carry rare and interesting things. At least in this country ;-). Maybe the PNW is a bit of an exception because there seems to be more of a 'critical mass' of collectors there. Even up there, it feels like nobody is replacing various nurseries as they close. It sure feels like 15 years ago there were a lot more 'collector's nurseries' than there are now. Ian at Desert Northwest and Arlen at Keeping It Green seem like the only semi-young 'up and coming' PNW "rare plant" nursery ̶m̶e̶n̶ persons in the past 10 or so years. Am I right? Rarefind is still around but nothing like it was IMHO. They still have uncommon plants but just the things they can buy at wholesalers like Pleasant Run. Not a crew hybridizing, selecting and propagating new varieties on-site. The former horticulture manager who was let go in Spring 2016 posted a hilarious account on the old yahoo rhodie forum of going there for a sale and finding a lot of Wollemia liners and buying them for a song.* The college age kids they hired to replace him had no idea what they were. I doubt it will be around in 10 years. So glad I drove up there and met Hank in 2006. Changed my gardening history. I had no idea one could have such a diverse and impressive rhodie garden outside a maritime climate. * - NB, not that I see Wollemia really being a permanent plant anywhere on the east coast, but they do have a high monetary value on the resale market, so to speak LOL. The one Professor Jason grafted onto Agathis in Florida will probably be the only East Coast Wollemia, unless someone else does the same thing!

I'm very frugal - seldom ever use paper towels. I grew up with rags...I have them neatly stacked in many rooms, when needed they take a swim in the laundry.
Mine are old towels. Tshirts are for hubby's workshop. LOL

You're up early too. I couldn't sleep, so I'm posting, reading news and planting more seedlings!

Good Morning!

Greetings, everyone.

The car's a hatchback, so the (dog-sitted) dog, full of life, a real mover ...
... would hop up into the front alonside of me, looking for attention, as I travelled.

No wife - she left, years ago.

(Looks as though that gives me my answer)!

As I had to change the subject line on my second message above, to enable it to go forth, it got truncated (ole joyful was too long-winded, again).

The complete line was, "Re: a funny email I got....", quoted,
then I added, "and passed on (but didn't pass on, myself - yet)".

May I suggest that, as a series of dots usually are meant to more or less replace a word in a sentence, and we leave a space between words, I've heard that we should leave a space before we begin the dots, and leave another before we start the next word.

I think that I've heard that it's good usage to use three dots, as well.

I could be wrong, in that regard.

Maybe I'd better go looking for a wife ... needing a licensed driver to ride with me in order to enter the road, these days, is a real restriction.

I knew that there must be a good reason to have a wife ...
... no, not "have" as in possession of something, but, " ... be associated with ...", as in, related to an equal.

May joy be the keynote of this day for ((((you and yours)))).

ole joyful ... soon to hit the hay (not with Jud)

I bet you really feel trapped, Ole Joyful, by being limited to when you can drive off. Pretty frustrating, I think, after being able to come and go as you pleased for a lot of years.

All our snow doesn't help either. We couldn't even get out the back door.

Take care and hopefully things improve for you soon.
