Darn! I missed it.

Sunday is my "Leverage" day. It's shown on ION TV for most of the day on Friday and Sunday. I've been busy watching it while making meat loaf, something I've been craving for the past few days. Then, I had dinner and cleaned up the kitchen.

By the time I remembered it, Oscar was over. Oh well...

Too long, as usual, but a good show! Thought it was well done. Bette Midler did a good job, following the moratoriums. That was a hard thing to do.

Some really good acceptance speeches.

I thought Ellen was great (as always). No surprises, unless you count Pink, whom I never would have associated with "Over the Rainbow." I thought she did a wonderful job. Jared Leto's acceptance speech made me cry, and so did Lupita's.

I agree with the comment about the speeches. Many of them were just great....heartfelt and eloquent.

Ellen was totally herself and her audience truly seemed to just love her.

Yes, and a friend of mine was on, winning a visual effecs Oscar for Gravity. He was senior animation supervivisor.

Lupita Nyong'o 's acceptance speech was absolutely beautiful.

These shows are so long that you look for things that could be cut, and one segment, rather long, was a collection of clips from old movies without really a theme or point to it. I wonder why they take up such valuable air time with filler like that.

Ellen is a wonderful, funny host.

I watched some of it, jumping around to other channels a lot too. I don't have much patience for this show, but Ellen was great and the winners seemed to be good choices. Matthew McC gave very good remarks, as did others.

Most of the dresses were beautiful.

this is the first time I've watched in years! sad, but nice to see kim novak..
used to wish I could go sometime as a kid, then my dad's friend said wish I'd known..could have got you in in...(way back in the 1960's)

I thought it was the classiest show in years. Watched it with 13 other ladies. We had a great time!

I had them on only because there was nothing elso . Totally disappointing. I'm so glad I didn't waste money on going to see any of them The former dignity this show had or ever had is gone JMHO

I watched them as they arrived for one reason on, to see the beautiful gowns. After that I changed the channel.

I refuse to watch any of them after the last one that HONORED Woody Allen. Gag.

I thought it was a good show, a little long, but that's always expected. Elllen remained true to her style of hosting and the crowd seemed relaxed. Nice to watch an awards show where no one is insulted. I agree the speeches were touching and wonderful.

I really enjoyed Jimmy Kimmel's after the Oscar show. The cast of stars appearing in the youtube video remakes were hilarious.

I agree with Graywings about that series of clips. Since the Oscars always run late, I wondered why someone stuck it in there.

Wish I'd kept the TV on to watch Jimmy Kimmel. As it was, I stayed up later than I'd planned anyway. Maybe I'll look for parts of it on YouTube.

I have to say I cringed at watching Kim Novak. I was a fan back in the day, and wish she hadn't gone the plastic surgery route. I don't understand how these stars, with enough money to pay for the best surgery, end up looking the way some of them do.

It was sad to see Kim Novak. Her face was so tight, she could hardly speak.
Liza Minnelli looked different! Better than the last time I saw her on television.
Thought the pizza thing was a waste of time.

I was less concerned about how Kim Novak looked - she's 81 years old - and more concerned about her inability to speak her lines. She apparently has had a lot of medical issues, and I wonder whether it is fair to ask someone in her condition to appear at an event like this. Her co-presenter seemed to take over for her at one point, thank goodness.

I watched until the foreign films were announced and then I went to bed. I was so shocked to see Kim Novak with a smooth face at her age. I loved her in Picnic. One of my all time favorite movies. I also thought that Mathew Mc was such a gentleman with her. I loved the dresses and I also liked Ellen as a host. I felt it was a very relaxed show. Congratulations to all the winners.

I agree....I didn't mean to sound as though her looks were my main concern. I was uneasy about her ability to handle the task she was given. It really seemed a mistake to put her out there.

I didn't even recognize Liza. Looks like she has had some major plastic surgery in past year or so. Same with Kim Novak. I noticed how tight her face was from her mouth across her cheeks, it reminded me of a puppet face. I remember her being such a beauty. Another one is Goldie Hawn. She is a pretty woman, but, now, you can actually tell she's had lots of Botox and surgery.

I just don't get why women can't let themself age the way we were meant to. Everyone knows that once you get past a certain age and you see NO wrinkles, it's just not normal.....well, I suppose it is normal from a Hollywood standpoint.

Debi....you'd be quite surprised if you had ever met the women on my mother's side of the family....including me. :-) Wrinkles just aren't in the DNA. I ain't complaining or anything, lol.

I think that some women (and men) opt for surgery and other procedures because they're afraid to let nature take its course. Afraid of losing their careers, or the edge in business, or the admiration of the opposite sex. Afraid.

And then so many end up looking horrible. But MANY truly benefit from procedures! I'm thinking of Judge Judy, Barbara Walters, Carol Burnett, and many others. Didn't Bette Midler look fabulous at the Oscars? She has been very open about her procedures.

I've heard and read of problems that John Travolta had during his presentation...I must have missed it. Does anyone have an observation?

John T introduced Broadway star Adina Menzel before she sang as "Adele Dazeem." As she started to sing I thought to myself " that sure looks like Adina Menzel" and then I realized it was! Big flub on his part...how hard was that to remember?

Didn't he also say she was an "aspiration" instead of an "inspiration"? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Liza sure could have used a BOOB LIFT. Or at LEAST a bra! She looked horrible.

I've read that he has dyslexia and has trouble reading the Teleprompter, so I imagine that even if he had a coach to help him for days before the show, once he looked at the Teleprompter, the stress and pressure did him in.

I was shocked at Goldie Hawn's appearance. It was readily apparent that whatever she had done to her face was really bad.

Don't know if JT has dyslexia but he sure butchered her name. There are a number of comments on FB about his mispronunciation of her name.
